ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Creates bookings for orders obtained. Coordinates the movement of LTL and truckload shipments from and to points outside the companies direct service area. Develops knowledge of partner carriers. Tracks shipments while in transit and insures that service commitments are met. Resolves billing issues with partner carriers. Audits invoices from partner carriers and customer bills for accuracy. Responsible for completion of related paperwork, communications, and customer service activities.

Prepares bills of lading.

Insures proper NMFC classification of LTL shipments.

Presents information and responds to questions regarding quotes and freight movements from managers, co-workers, and customers both verbally and in writing.

Keeps informed of trends and activities occurring within the industry.

Analyzes traffic patterns and competitive rates and helps develop strategies to improve profitability.

Ensures professional handling of the company’s product and services.

Acquires knowledge of partner carrier rules.

Assists Customer Service in quoting.

Reviews and is familiar with tariff and contract provisions.

Responsible for compliance with departmental and company policies.

May assist in special projects as requested.

Records, and enters information on company computer system as required. Makes inquiries from computer system. Operates various business machines. Maintains details of business transactions or other records as required. Answers telephones and e-mail messages and gives information to callers or requestors.

Bills shipments and updates shipment statuses.

Dependable and consistent attendance required.

Ability to work in a fast paced, rapid turn-over environment required.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Students pursuing a Bachelors or Associates degree in Transportation, Logistics and or Supply Chain Management encouraged to apply.

Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel and Word; ability to learn and use other software tools, including companies proprietary software.

Ability to read, analyze and interpret tariffs, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, co-workers, and customers quickly and effectively.

Ability to apply mathematical and financial concepts. Examples include the application of fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume, and density.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and recommend appropriate solutions.

Ability to work well with others.

Position requires ability to write, use keyboard and 10-key efficiently. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Must be able to conduct e-mail and telephone communication for extended periods. Must be able to sit, stand or walk for extended periods.
