The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) releases the room assignments for the September – October 2023 Certified Public Accountant Licensure Exam (CPALE)  a few days before the examination.

The September – October 2023 Certified Public Accountant Licensure Exam (CPALE) will be conducted on September 30, October 1 and October 2, 2023, at PRC testing centers located in NCR, Baguio, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Koronadal, Legazpi, Lucena, Pagadian, Pampanga, Rosales, Tacloban, Tuguegarao, Zamboanga, and Palawan. will be conducted on September 30, October 1 and October 2, 2023, at PRC testing centers located in NCR, Baguio, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Calapan, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Koronadal, Legazpi, Lucena, Pagadian, Pampanga, Rosales, Tacloban, Tuguegarao, Zamboanga, and Palawan.

Below are room assignments for the September – October 2023 Certified Public Accountant Licensure Exam (CPALE) :

Examinees shall report before 6:30 in the morning on the said date because latecomers will not be admitted.

Things to Bring Examination day

Here are the things to bring during the examination proper:

• Notice of Admission
• Official Receipt
• One (1) piece of metered-stamped window mailing envelope
• Two (2) or more pencils (NO. 2)
• Ball pens (black ink only)
• One (1) piece long brown envelope
• One (1) piece long transparent/plastic envelope (for keeping your valuables and other allowed items)
• Health Forms (Pursuant to Memorandum No. 68, series of 2020)
• Negative RT-PCR Test Results, if applicable, or Certificate of Quarantine (Pursuant to Memorandum No. 68, series of 2020)

Dress Code on Examination Day

Here are the specified dress codes from PRC:

• For male examinees, tucked-in white polo shirt with collar (without any seal, logo, or mark); decent pants or slacks
• For female examinees, tucked-in white blouse or shirt with collar (without any seal, logo, or mark); decent pants or slacks

Prohibited Items Inside the Exam Rooms:

• Books, notes, review materials, and other printed materials containing coded information or formulas
• Calculators which are programmable or with embedded functions, especially CASIO FX991ES and CASIO FX-991ES plus
• Apple, Samsung and other smart watches, cellular phones, ear plugs, transmitters, portable computers, Bluetooth and other electronic devices which may be used for communication purposes;
• Bags of any kind (place your documents inside the transparent/plastic envelope)
• Other examination aides not stated in this program

All personal belongings of the examinees shall be surrendered to the proctor and shall be placed in a secured space within the examination room.

The rules on the conduct of bodily search, an inspection of personal belongings of the examinees, and the seizure/confiscation of prohibited items during the licensure exam (Annex A of PRC Memorandum Order No. 57, s. 2020) shall be strictly observed.

The exams will be conducted in different parts of the Philippines NCR, Baguio, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Calapan, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Koronadal, Legazpi, Lucena, Pagadian, Pampanga, Rosales, Tacloban, Tuguegarao, Zamboanga, and Palawan. The exam will take place on September 30 and October 1 & 2, 2023.

• Examinees should report before 06:30 in the morning every examination day. LATE EXAMINEES WILL NOT BE ADMITTED.
• Bring the following: Notice of Admission (NOA), Official Receipt, pencils no. 1 or 2, black ball pens, metered-stamped window mailing envelope**, long brown and long plastic envelopes.
• CELLULAR PHONES AND OTHER ELECTRONIC GADGETS ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED. Wear the prescribed dress code.

• Official Receipt of payment of application for examination
• Notice of admission
• One (1) piece metered-stamped window mailing envelope
• Two (2) or more pencils (No. 2)
• Ballpens with black ink only
• A piece of long brown envelope
• One (1) piece long transparent/plastic envelope (for keeping your valuables and other allowed items)
• Health Forms (Pursuant to Joint Administrative Order No. 01 (s 2021))
• Negative RT-PCR Test Results,  if applicable, or Certificate of Quarantine or Certificate or copy of Vaccination Card for fully vaccinated examinees to the proctor on the examination day.
• Calculators with the following features only – addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, memory keys (M+, M-, MR and MC) and TAX functions.

NOTE: ONLY ONE CALCULATOR WITH THE AFOREMENTIONED FEATURES SHALL BE ALLOWED INSIDE THE EXAMINATION ROOM. ALL CALCULATORS SHALL BE THOROUGHLY INSPECTED BY THE EXAMINATION PERSONNEL. 

What NOT to bring on exam day?

• Books, notes, review materials, and other printed materials containing coded data/information/formula 
• PROGRAMMABLE CALCULATORS, especially CASIO FX991ES and CASIO FX-991ES plus
• CELLULAR PHONES, EARPLUGS, TRANSMITTERS, PORTABLE COMPUTERS, SMART WATCHES, BLUETOOTH and other electronic gadgets/devices which may be used for communication purposes.

What to wear on exam day?

COVID-19 protocols during the exam day

During the PRC licensure exams, the following precautionary health and safety rules must be followed at all times:

• Observe physical distancing of at least two (2) meters between examinees.
• Examinees shall be restricted to their assigned seat;
• Wear face mask (at least 3-ply surgical mask, preferably N95 mask) and face shield at all times; 
• Bring 70% ethyl alcohol for hand disinfection;
• Postpone close contacts like “beso-beso”, hugging, handshake, and directly touching other persons;
• Avoid touching one’s eyes, nose, and mouth;
• When sneezing and/or coughing, facial tissues must be used to wipe the nose and mouth areas. Dispose of used facial tissues properly; and
• No spitting in public, on floors, and along corridors.

Manila, Philippines – The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) has announced the room assignments for the May 21-23, 2023 Certified Public Accountant Licensure Examination (CPALE) for testing locations in Manila/National Capital Region (NCR), Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Koronadal, Legaspi, Lucena, Pagadian, Pampanga, Rosales, Tacloban, Tuguegarao, and Zamboanga.

The licensure exams for Certified Public Accountants were administered by PRC and the Board of Accountancy headed by its Chairman, Noe G. Quiñanola, Vice Chairman, Marko Romeo L. Fuentes, and its members, Gloria T. Baysa, Samuel B. Padilla, Arlyn Juanita S. Villanueva, Thelma S. Ciudadano and Gervacio I. Piator (inhibited).

Male examinees are required to wear a white polo shirt with a collar (without any seal, logo, or mark) and decent pants or slacks.

For female examinees, a white blouse or shirt with a collar (without any seal, logo, or mark), a decent skirt or slacks, and pony-tailed long hair.

Don’t forget the following on examination day:

Examinees are not allowed to bring books, notes, or similar items to the examination room. Electronic gadgets such as Apple and Samsung products are not allowed either. Bags of any kind are also not allowed inside the examination premises.

Precautionary Measures

The following precautionary measures shall be observed during the conduct of the CPA Licensure Exam:

• Wearing of face mask and face shield
• Sanitizing using alcohol and hand-based sanitizers whenever necessary
• Physical Distancing of one (1) meter at all times
• Those with fever and cold are not allowed to take the exam
• Observe proper hygiene at all times

CPA evolution explained: The CPA exam in 2023 and 2024

By now you’ve heard the CPA Exam will be changing — some may even say evolving. In fact, the change is called CPA Evolution.

This isn’t anything new (the last big exam change was in 2017); this change is just bigger than previous changes. Every five or so years, the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) performs an analysis of the profession to make sure the exam is relevant, valid and current. CPA Evolution is a joint venture with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) and the AICPA.

Let’s examine how the exam is changing and how to plan for the changes.

Candidates will have a choice For the current exam, everyone takes the same four parts: Auditing and Attestation (AUD), Business Environment and Concepts (BEC), Financial Accounting and Reporting (FAR), and Regulation (REG). Starting January 2024, candidates have a choice to make: All candidates will take three core exams — Auditing and Attestation (AUD), Financial Accounting and Reporting (FAR), and Taxation and Regulation (REG). However, candidates will choose one of three discipline exams for the fourth exam: Business Analysis and Reporting (BAR), Information Systems and Controls (ISC), or Tax Compliance and Planning (TCP). The exams may be taken in any order. The goal of the new model isn’t to award a specialized license, but to allow candidates to choose their path based on the area of accounting they plan to pursue or are currently pursuing. The core exams cover the essentials all CPAs need to know, while the discipline exams cover the more in-depth content of the specific areas in accounting.

Exams passed in 2023 will count in 2024 NASBA has provided a transition policy for candidates who may be taking exams in both 2023 and 2024. If you pass AUD, FAR or REG in 2023, those will still “count” for the corresponding core exams. If you pass BEC in 2023, it will count for a discipline exam.

Dates to know for 2023 and 2024 NASBA and the AICPA released the following tentative application information and testing schedules for late 2023.

• Oct. 1, 2023: Application deadline for BEC exam first-time candidates applying through NASBA/CPAES.* • Nov. 12, 2023: Application deadline for BEC exam re-exam candidates who have already been approved for a prior NTS (any section).* • Nov. 22, 2023: NASBA will start processing applications for the new discipline exam sections (BAR, ISC, TCP). • Dec. 15, 2023: Last day of testing for all sections of the current exam (AUD, BEC, FAR, and REG). • Dec. 16, 2023–Jan. 9, 2024: No testing to allow for IT systems to convert to the new exam.

Making a plan • With all these changes it may be overwhelming for candidates to decide where to start. Here are some considerations: • If possible, candidates should pass BEC in 2023 because this passed exam will “count” for a discipline exam in 2024. • Exams that could be easier to pass in 2024 are FAR and REG because they are moving content from these sections. Now, if a candidate has time to pass all four in 2023, by all means, encourage them to do so! • The AUD exam will remain pretty much the same in 2024. • Candidates should use a calendar to map out a plan, taking into consideration the dates they can and cannot take the core and discipline exams.

It’s going to take longer to get scores in 2024 There will be a limited number of score release dates because the AICPA will need more time to evaluate and score the new exams.

What does this mean? Similar to what happened in 2017, candidates may take multiple exams before getting any scores, which may be nerve-wracking and may make planning difficult. The AICPA and NASBA are aware of this, so NASBA has proposed a credit extension policy that will impact the current 18-month window to complete the four parts of the CPA Exam. Many state societies and boards of accountancy, including the MNCPA and the Minnesota Board of Accountancy, are encouraging NASBA to extend this window to a longer period.

This policy would allow candidates who have passed any parts by Jan. 1, 2024, to have credit for those exams extended to June 30, 2025. The individual state boards of accountancy are in the process of adopting this policy. The states who have not adopted the policy need this change to move through the state legislatures, and NASBA is confident all states will eventually approve it.

Key takeaway Encourage candidates to take exams even though they haven’t received scores. A candidate may have more than one exam on the Notice to Schedule (NTS), so they should continue to study and take parts already paid for.

Final thoughts for CPA Exam candidates Change can be difficult, so let’s address that head on. Keep in mind that change can be advantageous, too, and encourage staff to use that as a mantra when navigating the CPA Exam: I will have a choice. Change is good. I will be successful. Taking time to stay on top of the changes coming in 2024 will increase confidence to persevere through the exams and navigate the process.

LIST, ROOM ASSIGNMENT: October 2019 CPA, Accountancy Board Exam

MANILA, Philippines – The room assignments for Certified Public Accountant (CPA) board exam October 2019 are released by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Board of Accountancy few days before the licensure exam. The CPA board exam is scheduled to take place on October 5, 6 & 12, 2019 at PRC testing centers in Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena, Tacloban and Tuguegarao.

Certified Public Accountant is one of the programs with huge number of examinees being administered by PRC. In the most recent exams conducted on May 2019, 1,699 out of 10,319 (16.46%) examinees passed.

EXAMINATION REMINDERS

As posted by PRC, examinees shall bring the following requirements on examination proper. The Notice of Admission (NOA), Official Receipt, Pencils No. 1 or 2/ Black ink ballpen, metered stamped mailing envelope, long brown and plastic/transparent envelopes.

PRC reminds examinees to report before 6:30 in the morning on the said date because late comers will not be admitted, examination fees for late examinees will also be forfeited.

Examinees are advised to verify their application number on the day of examination from room watchers/proctors assigned to the room.

ROOM ASSIGNMENTS Below are the program and list of room assignments for the testing locations mentioned in the October 2019 Accountancy/ CPA board exams, courtesy of  PRC :

• Manila (Removal)
• Manila (PWD)
• Cagayan de Oro
• Davao (PWD/Conditioned)
• Iloilo (Conditioned)
• Legazpi (Conditioned)

Examinees shall adhere to the attire set by the Professional Regulation Commission.

For male examinees, plain white polo shirt with collar without any seal, logo or marks partnered with decent pants or slacks. For female, plain white blouse or shirt with collar without any seal, logo or marks partnered with decent skirt or slacks.

PROHIBITED ITEMS

Take note of the prohibitions during the exams. These include bringing of books, notes, review materials and other printed materials containing coded information; programmable calculators; gadgets which include cellular phones, smartwatch, ear plugs and related electronic devices; any kind of bag. Likewise, PRC will not be responsible for any prohibited items which will be lost during the exams.

2-4 days yan bago ipakita lahat ng room assignment… Bawal po kahit anong watch… Calculator, lapis ballpen lang lang .. at tubig pagkain kung gusto niyong kumain..

Lahat po ba ng rooms ay may wall clock po?

Majority of the rooms walang wall clock. Protocs only announce time every hour

Pwede po ba maong pants?

Pwede po naman magtanong dun sa nagbabantay kung anong oras na at nagsasabi din sila ng kung anong oras na kada 1hr/30mins… Pwedeng pwede po ang maong…

Decent pants naman po talaga . Di ko po alam bakit me skirt na nakalagay dito .Pants or slacks lang yung nakalagay dun sa memo from PRC. Downloadable naman

Pwede po skirt lalo na po if dahil sa belief. Basta decent skirt po hindi mini skirt. =)

Is Maong Pants allowed?

Depende talaga yan sa proctor. May ibang proctor kasi na sumusunod talaga sa kung ano ang required. So better be safe, slack nalang suotin ng mga girls or decent skirt

Pwede po ba leggings and maternity shirt for pregnant?
