What Is The Meaning Of The Phrase “Time Is Money”?

Time is a precious aspect of life as it never waits for anyone, and no one can ever recover lost time. The time is money is a phrase Benjamin Franklin used in his essay, where he compared time to money. Here, to emphasise its importance, time is compared to a valuable thing, like money.

Reasons Why Time Is More Important Than Money

Time is more important than money is an appropriate phrase, as one cannot earn time, but proper use of time can help you earn money. Another reason is that no one can ever regain that lost time even by paying lots of money. But the lost money can be recovered by proper utilisation of time. A solid example of this scenario is a business person taking an expensive flight to attend a business deal. Here, this person is aware of the value of time and knows that the coming business deal may mint more money for him and compensate for this expensive flight ticket. One needs to understand time cannot be stored, but money can be.

How One Should Value Time?

A person trying to be successful is aware of the value of time and constantly tries to improve themselves by focusing on what matters the most in life. They never waste their time on useless things. One should respect and value their time to streamline their objectives and work hard to achieve them.

Apart from realising and knowing the importance of time in life, your kid will also learn to write meaningful paragraphs and essays on any given topic. This topic also teaches valuable life lessons along with enhancing cognitive abilities and various skills.

This is all you need to know about essay writing on the topic ‘time is money.’ Teach these various essay writing types to your kids to improve and help their brain development and vocabulary skills.

Speech On Value Of Time - 10 Lines, Short and Long Speech

  • Speech on Value of Time

Imagine a world where time stands still. No clocks tick, no calendars turn, and no deadlines looming. In this world, there would be no sense of urgency or motivation to accomplish anything. This may seem like a paradise, but in reality, it would be a world without purpose or meaning. Time gives our lives purpose and direction, and it is up to us to make the most of it. Time is a precious commodity, something that we can never get back once it has passed.

Speech On Value Of Time - 10 Lines, Short and Long Speech

Time is a valuable resource that cannot be replaced or regained once it is lost.

It is important to use our time wisely and efficiently in order to achieve our goals and live a fulfilling life.

Wasting time can have negative consequences, such as missed opportunities or unfulfilled potential.

Time is often equated with money, as it is a limited resource that must be carefully managed.

We should strive to be mindful of the time we have and make the most of every moment.

The value of time can vary depending on the context and circumstances.

Time is often viewed as a cycle, with the present moment representing the only point of control we have.

It is important to balance our use of time between work, leisure, and rest in order to lead a healthy and fulfilling life.

It is the most valuable thing we have, yet it is often taken for granted or wasted. In order to achieve our goals, we must learn how to value and appreciate the time that we have, and utilise it in a wise manner to reach our goals.

The concept of the value of time has been recognised and emphasised by many great minds throughout history.

The value of time is a concept that has been recognised and emphasised by many great minds throughout history.

Quotes on Time

One famous quote that speaks to the importance of time is by the Roman philosopher Seneca, who said, "Time flies over us, but leaves its shadow behind." This quote highlights the idea that time is a fleeting and irreplaceable resource, and it is up to us to make the most of it.

Another well-known saying that speaks to the value of time is "time is money." This saying suggests that time is a valuable commodity that should not be wasted or taken lightly. We often use our time to earn a living and pursue our goals and dreams, so it is important to use it wisely.

Overall, the value of time is an essential concept that we should all strive to understand and appreciate. Whether we are using our time to work, play, or simply rest and recharge, it is important to make the most of every moment and not take it for granted. As the old saying goes, "time and tide wait for no man." By recognising and appreciating the time we have, we can make the most of every moment and achieve our goals.

The value of time is a concept that has been recognised and emphasised by many great minds throughout history. It is a limited and irreplaceable resource that should not be taken for granted or wasted.

One famous quote that captures the essence of the value of time is by the English writer Margaret Thatcher, who said, "I always live in the future. The past is gone, and the future is yet to come. The only time that is mine is the present." This quote highlights the idea that the present moment is all we have and that it is important to make the most of it.

Example of Value of Time

One of the most famous books that explore the concept of time is "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho. In this book, the main character embarks on a journey to find his personal legend and discovers the value of time along the way. He learns that time is not just a linear progression but rather a cycle that is constantly repeating itself. He also learns that the present moment is all we have and that it is important to live in the present rather than dwelling on the past or worrying about the future.

How to Value Time

One way to appreciate and value the time we have is by setting goals and priorities. This helps us to focus our time and energy on what is most important to us rather than wasting it on activities that do not bring us closer to our goals. For example, if our goal is to become fluent in a foreign language, we may choose to spend our time studying and practising rather than engaging in activities that do not contribute to this goal.

Another way to value our time is by learning to say "no." This may mean turning down invitations or opportunities that do not align with our goals or priorities. While it can be difficult to say no, it is important to remember that our time is a limited and valuable resource that should be used wisely.

The value of time can also be seen in the way we manage our schedules and our time commitments. By being organised and planning ahead, we can ensure that we are using our time efficiently and effectively. This may mean setting aside specific times for work, leisure, and rest in order to achieve a healthy balance in our lives. For example, in the workplace, time is often a limited and valuable resource. Employees are often given deadlines to meet and are expected to be efficient and productive with their time. Companies also value the time of their customers and clients, as timely service and delivery can lead to satisfaction and loyalty.

In addition to valuing our own time, it is also important to respect the time of others. This means showing up on time for appointments and meetings and not wasting the time of others with unnecessary or unimportant tasks. The value of time is an essential concept that can help us to lead more fulfilling and productive lives.

We all are familiar with the proverb, “We cannot step into the same river twice”, right? Everything is continuously changing over time. We should seize the opportunities we have and utilise it for the betterment of others.

Just like the words told by Stephen R. Covey, “The key is in not spending time, but in investing it”. People have to value and manage time wisely. To effectively utilise time, one has to set goals and work for them. We have to understand the situation and apply time accordingly. Setting long-term and short-term goals will drive us to accomplish great heights and to understand the purpose of our lives. Time management is another crucial skill needed for the smooth sailing of human life. We have to prioritise our tasks and complete them accordingly. Following such a plan will favour an individual in multiple ways. People will stop procrastinating and stay updated in their lives. Such a regular update boosts the confidence of the individuals and will help them to encounter all troubles in their lives.

Even though we are well aware of all these points, we keep on repeating the same mistake – we think we have enough time left with us. Buddha once said, “The trouble is, you think you have time.” This is the only reason why we disparage time and procrastinate. It’s high time to realise the value of time in our lives. Start valuing your time; you will eventually start valuing your life.

The power of time is boundless; it can rule over all material things. No human power can control its journey or defeat it.

“And on the pedestal, these words appear:

My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;

Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!

Nothing beside remains. Round the decay

Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare

The lone and level sands stretch far away.”

These are the words from the poem ‘Ozymandias’, written by P. B. Shelley. With these lines, the poet is trying to depict the power of time and shows how human energy is ultimately lost in the battle with time. No matter how powerful a human being is, time will always win in the battle of life. People have to accept the reality that, by living, we all are playing a game in which the winner is already decided. Time is doubtlessly a powerful force that has an overwhelming effect on human life. Let’s remember the words told by Mother Teresa, “Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.” So let’s realise the value of time and start living. Seize the day.

Time is the most valued limited resource on earth. We only have a finite amount of time in our lives. Every single one has the same 24 hours of time in a day. The productive utilisation of it determines the success of a person. Do you know what our life is made up of? It’s made of time, so losing time means losing a life. Everything that we enjoy today is the gift of time, still, many people prioritise money over time. Money can be made by anyone who has got time in their life. According to the words of Jim Rohn, “Time is more valuable than money. You can get more money, but you cannot get more time”. People do not realise the fact that it’s time that provides the opportunity to earn it. Just like how wealth is brought, time brings happiness, sorrows, success, and depression into our lives. And this is how our lives are made of time.

What is the value of time in life?

How to Master the Art of Speech on Time: Tips and Examples

short speech on time is money

I like building and growing simple yet powerful products for the world and the worldwide web.

Published Date : November 16, 2020

Reading Time :

Time is something we can’t discontinue after it passes the clock. However, speeches on how time was underrated, unlike money and school, can be remembered through a beautiful speech on time.

People like me have distractions and stressors in life; dealing with these all day is not just time-devouring but makes your day meaningless. Time is free.

Everyone can experience the power of time; however, people waste it all.  People fail to take the objective of time and try to avoid that mistake.

I will share some essential tips on how to write a speech on the importance of time management.

Do you ever wonder why time is so underrated yet important? Let me tell you. First, time is irreplaceable; you can’t bring back the time and vice versa; you can’t take back what you have done.

Second, time teaches you life lessons. And lastly, it connects you to other people.

Importance of Giving Speech on Time

Time is undervalued by some people nowadays. But did you know that this can help you do better and be more than who you are now?

Giving yourself and others 10 minutes to discuss your wounds and thoughts could change your life. Lending a hand and a minute to strangers could also be a powerful help.

Speak to a homeless man in a minute; indeed, they may feel more human and not outsiders and realize that any amount of time can be called a “time well spent.”

Every inch of time you spend with other people shows the significance of time. Furthermore, way back before the Christ era, time was also debatable. Here are some philosophers.

For philosophers like Plato, time is celestial motion. That means time is divine and goes around repeatedly.  For Aristotle, time is appealing and striking but vague. It shows that time has no beginning and end; it depends upon the person who will begin the first moment and set the time.

Like those philosophers, you can also bring about the value, idea, and concept of time to open, not solely the eyes and ears. But even the youth’s minds can waste no time on unnecessary things through a beautiful speech and an eye-awakening speech on the importance of time management.

Things You Should Understand About Time

Writing a speech on time may seem challenging and demanding with the fast-changing life phases. Most people care more about worldly things, luxury, and other symbols of success in life, such as big houses, fancy clothes, cars, and jewelry.

By that, they waste their youth and days to finish workloads, not enjoying their time left.

Moreover, people must value time and understand how it works. It is better to respect it and have more tasks done than waste less time.

Let me discuss the following vital things you need to know about time. And learn to write a speech on the importance of time management.

Punctuality

First, time helps you and allows you to be punctual and reliable. Not to get things neither too early nor too late. But to get it and be there in that perfect time than others.

Apart from that, you are showing respect to other people you have to meet. It teaches us how to meet people, greet people, and get people at the same time without hassling and stress.

Time is Valuable

Are you the person likely looking most at their money, savings, and bank accounts? So, someone who exhausts too much on spending money to buy 24k things and other stuff?

If you do, you are wasting your time.

We all know that money can buy everything in this world; however, money can’t buy time and can’t bring back time. Also, money can’t buy affection and memories.

Meaning that time holds fondness, admiration, appreciation, and more that people need to complete themselves and feed their spirits. It is something you feel in your heart and melts you, and that’s speech on time.

Importance of Time Management

Time allows you to be flexible according to your phase and teaches you to accomplish and attain more based on time management. This teaches you to take more opportunities and encourages you to surpass your limits.

Did you hear India Time, Filipino Time, and American Time? If not, these ideas came from taking the power of time for granted. Instead of arriving at 6 pm, they will come late or early.

However, even if it sounds disrespectful, it becomes a tradition as people normalize. Respecting other people’s time shows courtesy.

Value their time as much as you handle your time to build good relationships and useful connections.

Unpredictable Future

“Gone too soon” is the phrase we are more likely to hear after a young individual dies. “This man does not enough bond with his children to give them a comfortable life,” while this one we can hear after a father died.

The future is not ours to control; you should try to avoid regrets before your time comes.

Furthermore, people should stop the habit of laziness and try to do things and workloads on time to bond more with their loved ones.

The Best Medicine

Time can mend all the pain, wounds, and scars you have in your heart. It heals our soul and past. Through time, you become mature and glow like sunshine after the storm.

Apart from medical treatments, people intake to heal, and taking time for a break can be a huge factor for your healing or recovery.

How to Write a Speech on Time

After defining what time and its value are, you should now inform yourself of the pointers you need to write a good speech on time.

Time is fair to all people. Thus, people make it unfair. Since this topic is relatable to all ages, here are other tips on writing or giving a speech about time.

1. Know Your Limits

Speeches can be formal, informal, semi-formal, and casual. But on this topic, you must contemplate your language and medium.

Consider your audience’s sensitivity to slang and words that may trigger your listeners. Know how long your speech can be and always stick to your purpose.

What stage of time do you want to tackle? Teenage days? Adulthood? or do you want them to be ready as they enter parenthood? Clear it to your audience.

2. Calculate Your Words

There are different speech lengths: a 1-minute speech , a 3-minute, 5 to 7, and a 10-minute speech . To avoid mistakes, always write according to the scope of the topic and purpose. If you can be precise, do it.

  • 100 to 300 words for a 1-2 minute speech
  • 500 words for a 2-3 minute speech
  • One thousand words for a 4-5 minute speech .

Be specific and straightforward. It would be best if you avoided word-by-word speeches.

3. Tell Stories Not Facts

Speeches on time didn’t need to be based on science, facts, and history. To grab your listeners’ attention and heart, tell them warm stories, life lessons, and motivational stories to inspire them to live great, not waste time.

Make them cry, laugh, and sad through your stories; with that, they will realize the value of your speech on time.

4. Know Your Purpose

Imparting your motive and objective should be seen in the first sentence of your first paragraph. Knowing your purpose helps you drive your speech quickly and smoothly.

If you want a flawless speech on time, you should point out your purpose quickly.

5. Write for Ears, Not for the Eyes

Presence and posture are the most striking in delivering a speech . But apart from these elements, you must also write effortlessly to feed your audience’s ears.

Make them listen to you, let them think of you, and believe in your short speech on time.

Mistakes in Writing Speech on Time

To balance the idea of how to write a speech on time, you should start avoiding these things so that you can do more and better.

1. Out of Purpose

Talking about time is not as heavy as the financial crisis, fatalities, violence, and other enormous topics. But people tend to deliver its purpose hard, forcing their audience to listen to every pointer.

Some public speakers and students are swayed by putting unnecessary details in the opening remarks of their speeches.

In speeches on time, grasp the purpose tightly until the very end. The delivery method matters; if you speak casually but gently and with a soft voice, go for it up to the end.

Sometimes, the purpose is there, but the delivery method can affect your goal and objective.

2. Using Repetitive Words and Phrases

Stop delivering obvious and clichè meanings of time. Your audience will leave you if you say things usually said every day about time.

However, speak about what you think they were lacking and elaborate on it.

3. Not Sorting it Out to Parts

Vague speeches on time is a waste of time. Considering that “time” is ambiguous, you can chop your speech into five parts. You can have an introduction, pointers one to three, and a conclusion.

With this, your audience can listen to you throughout your speech .

4. Wasting the Opening

Don’t start your opening speech on time with vague phrases and with “hi” and “hello.” Start it with a dynamic and robust statement that will capture your audience’s attention.

5. Too Long

Most speakers write long speeches on time, believing the longer, the better. But it’s not, people nowadays want instant food, transportation and such.

It is also correlated to speech on time. If you can bring the best about “time,” show it.

6. Giving Facts Than Life Lessons

People are more in touch, hearing warm stories and stories that will boost their motivation. Instead of telling what the meaning of time is in science,

Tell stories of what is time for a 70-year-old war veteran, a teen, and a parent who loses her or his youth after entering parenthood. It makes sense to science.

How can one practice and improve their speaking pace using exercises and tools like metronomes and practice scenarios?

Practice speaking at varying paces using tools like metronomes and online scenarios. Don’t be a robot; use the rhythm to emphasize key points and keep your audience engaged. Adapt your pace to different contexts through simulated practice, receive feedback, and improve your overall presentation skills. Remember, a dynamic pace is key!

What role does culture play in determining the natural speaking pace of individuals?

From bustling cities to quieter countryside, individuals’ speaking pace reveals hidden influences. Cultural norms, regional speed, and even language fluency all shape how quickly people talk, creating a fascinating symphony of speech rhythms across the globe.

How does speaking quickly or slowly affect audience engagement and comprehension?

Speaking quickly can generate enthusiasm, urgency, and emotions in the audience. However, if prolonged, it can overwhelm listeners and reduce their engagement. On the other hand, speaking slowly may indicate importance, sadness, or seriousness, capturing the audience’s attention and allowing them to understand each word better. Yet, an entire presentation at a slow pace risks boring the audience, leading to disinterest as they await the main point. Striking a balance between speaking quickly and slowly is crucial to maintaining audience engagement and ensuring effective communication.

Why is it recommended to vary your speaking rate throughout a speech?

Spice up your speech ! Varying your pace isn’t just engaging; it’s impactful. Faster speeds convey excitement; slower ones add weight to key points. This emotional rollercoaster keeps your audience hooked and helps your message land deep. Ditch the monotone, speak dynamically, and connect with your listeners on a new level.

Is speaking rate important in delivering a speech effectively?

Slow down to emphasize, speed up to excite, but keep it clear! Speaking rate matters, but so does clarity . Even Tony Robbins, the fast-talker, relies on understandable language and pronunciation. Find the balance between pace, clarity , and articulation to connect with your audience and make your message stick truly.

Who holds the world record for the fastest speaking rate, and what is the rate?

Steven Woodmore, a British electronics salesman and comedian, holds the world record for the fastest speaking rate. He is known for his remarkable ability to articulate at a rate of 637 words per minute, four times faster than the average person. The Guinness Book of World Records recognized Woodmore as the world’s fastest talker, a title he held for five years after surpassing the previous record holder, John Moschitta, Jr.

What is the average speaking rate for presentations, conversations, audiobooks, radio hosting, auctioneers, and commentators?

The average speaking rate varies depending on the situation: presentations stay between 100-150 words per minute for clarity , conversations land in the 120-150 range, and audiobooks hit an upper limit of 150-160 for comfortable listening. Radio hosts and podcasters match that pace while auctioneers fire off about 250 words per minute, and sports commentators can even reach a lightning-fast 250-400 words per minute!

How can I calculate my speaking rate in words per minute (wpm)?

Want to know your speaking speed? Record yourself for a few minutes, count the words in the transcript (or use a speech -to-text tool), and then divide that number by the recording time in minutes. Boom! The speaking rate was revealed! Remember, comfortable conversation speeds are around 120-150 words per minute, but presenters, hosts, and even auctioneers can fly higher!

How do the speaking rates of popular TED Talks compare, and what is the average speaking rate for these talks?

The analysis of five popular TED Talks revealed a range of speaking rates, with the average rate calculated to be 173 words per minute. This average was derived from presentations varying in duration, from shorter speeches to ones lasting up to 22 minutes. The study included the time dedicated to speaking and moments like audience applause and transitions between slides. The analysis found a diverse spectrum of speaking rates among the talks, ranging from 154 to 201 words per minute.

Delivering a short speech on time can be an eye-opener for people who don’t care about time. It also practices your public speaking with a purpose. Practice your speech on the Orai app,  an AI powered speech app, it offers interactive lessons and detailed analysis of recorded speech to help you ace any speech topics!

Speech on Value of Time for Students in English [3 Minutes*]

December 10, 2020 by Sandeep

Speech on Value of Time: The most precious asset in everybody’s lives is time. We should spend our time judiciously. Time is more valuable than money as time once lost can never be regained back. Successful and high flying people are excellent time managers. Productively using available time increases our efficiency and makes us more efficient. Strategically using time involves planning, prioritizing, setting goals and striking the right balance.

Speech on Value of Time 500 Words in English

Below we have provided Value of Time Speech in English, written in easy and simple words for class 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 school students.

Good morning to everyone present here. I am going to present a speech on, i.e. Value of Time.

Time is the most precious thing on this earth. It has been quoted by Folklore that “Time waits for no one”. All our lives revolve around time. It is vital for every one of us. Understanding the value of time is essential because once the time is wasted, it is not going to come back to any of us. It is better to follow & respect time instead of regretting about it later. Time is like an opportunity which is given only once.

People who understand the importance of life are always on time. Punctuality is the first step towards a successful life. If a person is not punctual, he needs to follow a lot of adverse consequences in his life. It misbalance the life around us. Next important thing is the management of time, it acts as a critical factor for success in anyone’s life. Especially in a student’s lifetime management is essential for overall growth.

Professionals also will not deny agreeing to the fact that time management is key to success. We all must learn the value of time not only for ourselves but also to respect the time other people invest in a particular activity. We all are aware that the future is unpredictable, so to keep us updated with the fast-changing world we all must respect time. Working hard & performing all tasks has no value if you do not do it on time.

Ovid says “Time is the best medicine”. Time has already proved us that with time all our wounds heels. Forgiveness is also a product of time, with passing time we start forgiving people for their misdeeds. I tried to highlight to you all the critical aspects of life. We all must remember that time is excellent; it is even above money. People who keep giving excuses for doing work are usually involved in wasting time leads to nowhere in life.

Everyone is given 24 hours & it entirely depends on the person how time is being managed & utilised. Understanding the value of time will lead us in the path of success. We all must realise that we cannot keep today’s hours for tomorrow; we need to spend every minute of our lives wisely. Stephen R. Covey quoted “The key is in not spending time, but in investing it.” I am glad that I got the opportunity to share my thoughts on Value of Time with all of you.

Short Speech on Value of Time 150 Words

A warm welcome to everyone over here. Today I ………… is going put forward my thoughts on Value of Time.

Time is, above all in our lives. Once lost, we cannot get back it. It always runs in the forward direction & never in the backward direction. Everything in the world needs time; nothing happens before time. If something is not done in time, that means we have lost time for forever. Now for us students understanding the importance of time is paramount. We all must realise that time management is the key to success.

Prioritising things & doing things on time is the key to success. It makes all our lives simpler. Let me give an example if we do not study every day & cope up with the syllabus; it will be challenging for us to complete the whole syllabus just before the exam. It is a simple example of time management. Starting from waking up in the morning to going to bed, we all must maximise the utilisation of this golden opportunity we get.

Time is valueless; it cannot be compared with the other physical things available in our life. Harvey Mackay quoted that “Time is free, but it’s priceless. You cannot own it, but you can use it. You cannot keep it, but you can spend it. Once you have lost it, you can never get it back”. He has just explained every aspect of time in his thoughts. We all must respect & value the time we have. Our thoughts should be proper utilisation of time without wasting a single minute. This will lead us in the path of glory & success.

Short Inspirational Speeches.

If you are in need of a quick boost of inspiration and motivation, you will find that in this post. I am one of those people who loves to get motivated. That sounds weird, right?

And that’s usually what matters to me the most when I am looking for them in the first place.

So, here are the very best short motivational speeches so you can get that quick fix of motivation that you’re looking for, and ultimately move closer to your goals and dreams.

In less than 5 minutes, you’ll watch Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) explain to his son that if he wants to have the life he desires, he needs to believe in himself. He needs to stop listening to the people that tell him who he is, and instead go be his own person, and stop looking for someone to blame when things aren’t working out for him because ultimately it’s on HIM. This is one of the greatest inspirational speeches of all time.

2. Find Your Purpose | David Goggins – Motivational Speech

David Goggins is truly incredible. A former Navy SEAL, he has broken records and ran more races than you’d imagine. But the one thing that really stands out about him is his mindset.

Listen to this video if you want to be great. He tells you exactly what you need to do to get there.

Also, if you’ve never read David Goggins’ book “Can’t Hurt Me” , I highly recommend it. He talks about his rough upbringing, and how he was able to essentially become an entirely new person to become a Navy SEAL.

3. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF – Motivational Video (ft. Jaret Grossman & Eric Thomas)

4. DON’T LET YOUR DREAMS DIE – Motivational Speech

This YouTube short by Mel Robbins is so good, I had to share it. A light bulb went on in my head when I first watched this. If there is something that is always on your mind, don’t let it haunt you forever because you never put yourself out there to try it. Go and DO!

Jay Shetty talks to a school class about how there’s no one “perfect” life timeline to follow, and that we are all on our own clock.

If you’ve made mistakes in your life (haven’t we all) this is a great story from Kevin Hart (famous comedian and actor) that will remind you of the power of making mistakes and pushing through hard times.

11. Oprah Winfrey | 5 Minutes For The NEXT 50 Years of Your LIFE

In this video, Oprah talks about the importance of really knowing who you are and what you want in your life. She talks about surrounding yourself with great people, and how to have enormous success. “Let excellence be your brand.”

Sometimes in life, we get so caught up in the day to day that we forget what truly matters – the people we love. If you are having trouble with something in life, give these videos a listen, because they just might help you realize what is really important.

12. Arnold Schwarzenegger – Organize Your Day | 1 MINUTE MOTIVATIONAL VIDEO

Are you the kind of person who always complains that you don’t have enough time to do something? If so, you’re not alone. We are all busy humans, running around doing a million things. But if you aren’t prioritizing what you know you should be doing, listen to this video.

13. How to Judge Your Life Using 3 Simple Questions | Brendon Burchard Speech| Goalcast

Have you ever heard of Mortality Motivation? It’s essentially what it sounds like… being motivated by the impending reality of your death. It sounds a little morbid, but it’s actually quite beautiful and it can be really beneficial if you harness it for good.

In this video by motivational speaker Brendon Burchard, he shares how a car accident when he was 19 gave him mortality motivation and changed everything for him.

14. FALL, SUFFER AND LEARN | MOTIVATIONAL SPEECH BY OPRAH WINFREY

This speech by Oprah was given to Harvard graduates, and it’s a unique speech because she talks about failing, even after the major success of her television show for over 20 years.

It’s refreshing to hear that even the most successful people fail. What really matters, though, is what you do with your failure. Do you learn from it and move on? Or do you give up?

This is a speech about a man who never really paid much attention to his mother, until she passed away. It’s an emotional reminder to cherish the time you have with your loved ones, because you never know if the next time you see them will be the last time.

17. 5 Minutes to Start Your Day Right! – MORNING MOTIVATION

This motivational speech is by a Navy SEAL who will remind you to start each day with a task completed, respect everyone, take risks, step up during tough times, and never give up. If you do these things, the next generation, and the generations that follow, will live better lives than we live today.

18. The Real You – Jim Carrey

This video is one of the best motivational speech examples because it reminds you of something so important: sometimes we can be so focused on earning more money, gaining fame, and becoming admired that we lose ourselves or we lose sight of what’s really important to us in the process.

Jim Carrey talks about how he is a great example of that. He got all of the money, fame, and admiration, and admits that that wasn’t really who he was. Sometimes it’s nice to be reminded that money and fame, or even getting to the top of the corporate ladder, while nice, aren’t going to be the thing that brings you fulfillment when it’s all said and done.

19. Ed Mylett Motivational Speech

I posted another motivational video by Ed Mylett above, but if you don’t know much about him, prepare to have your world rocked. He’s probably my absolute favorite motivational speaker because he is successful and he works hard, but he’s also (seemingly) a kind, family guy who’s been through a few things.

In this video, he talks about being “the one” that changed his family tree. Take a listen because I’m sure it’ll get you thinking on whether or not you can be “the one” in YOUR family.

If you want to be motivated to work hard, listen to Gary Vaynerchuk. Gary Vaynerchuk is a creative genius known for his marketing tactics. This famous motivational speech is all about playing “the long game”, as in, working for a long time and having patience instead of working hard for a short period of time and expecting to win quickly.

23. OBSESSION – Best Motivational Speech

This is one of my favorite short motivational speeches because it makes me feel a little more normal for being “weird”. I’m the kind of person who chooses to work on the weekends instead of hanging out with people. Crazy, right? But it’s because I’m working toward a dream of mine and it’s something that’s really important to me. The most important thing to remember: it’s okay to devote yourself to something. It’s the only way to get what you want in life.

Motivational Speeches About Working Smart

Have you ever heard the saying “work smarter, not harder”? That saying is all about ensuring that the work you are doing is actually efficient. Are you getting to where you want to go with all of the work that you are putting in? Are you getting closer to your goals and your dreams? Or are you sprinting like a hamster on a wheel and just running in circles?

Here are great videos on the importance of working hard but also working intentionally.

Short Speech on the Importance of Time in English for Students and Children

Respected Principal, teachers, and my dear friends. A wonderful morning to all of you. Today I am going to share my views on the importance of time.

Time is very important in life. It is much more important than money. It is because money once lost, can be earned again but time does not come back. So time should be spent much more carefully than money as it is precious.

Time is so powerful that everything is bound by time. We calculate everything on the basis of time. Like when one is born, died, lived for how long, etc. Nothing is free from time.

Time waits for nobody. Whether a person is rich, poor, belong to any religion or region, time will continue to pass at its own speed. Many people do not realize the importance of time until its gone.

We should never waste time as it holds power to make someone a successful person or if wasted, can be the reason behind one’s failure. For example, a student works hard and devote more time to his/her studies. He/she will do better in exams. But if a student wastes his/her time being lazy and devoting his time to relax more and ignore his studies, he is wasting his time.

It is seen that those who have invested their time in the right things and did not let a single second pass without proper utilization of it have become successful in life. Others who did not realize the importance of time, they were unable to achieve success.

But despite knowing how important the time is, we do not know how to organize this time properly. The best way is that we should plan and divide our time to do different activities in our daily routine. Like eating, sleeping, exercising, studying, playing, etc.

We should not spend more time doing what we like but we should spend it on activities that help us achieve our goals. For example, if a person wants to become a football player, he should spend more time playing and practising football with his team.

In short, time is that tool which if used properly can make the future better and has the power to bring happiness in life.

Thank you for listening to me.

short speech on time is money

Speech on Money for Students and Children

Speech on money.

Hello everyone, I am here to present a speech on Money. Money is anything that people use to buy goods and services. Money is also that people receive for selling their own things or services. Most countries have their own kind of money such as the United States has a dollar, Britain has pound and Indian has rupees. Money is also called by many other names such as currency or cash.

Types of Money

There are different types of money as commodity money, convertible money, inconvertible money, bank deposit, and electronic money. Commodity money can be used for other purposes besides serving as a medium of exchange. Cattle, silk, gold, and silver are some examples of commodity money.

Convertible paper is money that can be converted into gold and silver. Inconvertible money is the money that we cannot convert into gold and silver. Notes and coins are inconvertible money. Such type of money is a country’s legal tender.

Money is an essential commodity that helps run our lives. Exchanging goods for goods is an older practice and without any money, we can buy anything we wish. Money has become important because people are trying to save wealth for their future needs. Rich people are rich as they know or realize the true value of money. It is a general saying that money stays in the hands of people who know its value.

Money also affects Relationships

There are many people who grow hatred between each other only because of money. There are also people who treat rich people with respect and poor people with disrespect. Women also prefer men who are rich and powerful for marriage. Thus money also has the power to make and break relationships.

It’s important to earn money but it’s also important to save money. Someone has rightly said that if you save money today, the money will save you in the future. If you work hard and spend all the money then it’s of no sense. Saved money can also help you in older age and in times of medical emergencies.

There are many schemes of government that encourages and help people who want to save a portion of their income as savings. Investment is also an option of saving.  One can adopt any kind of investment after proper consultation.

There are several ways to earn money but one should always concentrate on earning money through legal means. As said in our purans, that one should work to earn Gaja Laxmi, which will come slowly. It will come through legal means and stay for long. One should never work to earn money which comes from illegal means. This type of money will come quickly and will go more quickly.

At last, money makes the world revolve and function. Money satisfies our needs and gives us pleasure and satisfaction. Money can bring us everything but money is not everything. One should value relationships more than money. People and our relationship with each other are more important than money.

Money should be utilized for the betterment of society. Rich people should help and respect poor people. We should also inculcate in our children, habit of saving from an early age. Money, if used wisely and properly, will contribute to the building of a strong, developed and powerful nation.

Biden tells a lie a minute during cnn interview.

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.

The White House rarely allows President Biden to sit down for interviews, and Wednesday’s chat with CNN’s Erin Burnett shows why.

In a brief 17 minutes, Biden told 15 lies — nearly a lie a minute.

From whoppers about the economy to prevarications on Israel, Biden spun a fantasyland of a presidency that voters know is false.

President Biden's interview with Erin Burnett on CNN was full of lies.

Here’s a rundown:

LIE 1: “I’ve created over 15 million jobs since I’ve been president.”

Biden’s favorite falsehood, told over and over and over again no matter how many fact-checks call him out.

He took office at the tail end of a pandemic that blew a hole in the economy, when lockdown policies wholeheartedly endorsed by Democrats took people out of the office and onto COVID stimulus checks.

He “created” nothing — after the introduction of the vaccine, people returned to the workforce.

If anything, Biden’s policies slowed the recovery — it took until July 2022 for the US economy to regain all the jobs lost due to the pandemic.

short speech on time is money

LIE 2: “Other than Herbert Hoover, [Donald Trump] is the only president who has lost more jobs than he created.”

The corollary lie.

Trump didn’t “lose” jobs; he was president during a global pandemic.

And liberals were thrilled to put people on government checks and shut down the world during COVID.

They cannot argue that the job market would have been any different in 2020 under a Democrat.

LIE 3: “Look at what he says he’s going to do if he gets elected. Says he’s going to do away with what I’ve done on Medicare, reducing the price of Medicare.”

There’s no basis for this, as Trump has said he “will never do anything that will hurt or jeopardize Social Security or Medicare.”

Further, Trump pursued the exact same executive orders to lower prescription drug prices as did Biden.

LIE 4: “You know we have 1,000 billionaires in America. Know what their average federal tax is? 8.3%.”

Factcheck.org notes, “The top 0.1% of earners, with more than $4.4 million in expanded cash income, pay an average rate of 25.1% in federal income and payroll taxes.”

LIE 5: “We’ve already turned it around [on the economy].”

Burnett quoted some tough figures on the economy, noting that the cost of buying a home had doubled, and “Real income when you account for inflation is actually down since you took office.”

Biden’s response?

LIE 6: “The polling data has been wrong all along.”

Emerson College poll showing Trump leading Biden in all 7 swing states.

Every survey that says people are upset about the economy?

Every poll that puts Biden’s approval rating at historic lows?

They are all of them, from dozens of different sources, wrong?

LIE 7: “There’s corporate greed going out there. And it’s got to be dealt with.”

Labor costs increased 4.2% between 2023 and 2024.

They increased 5.1% from 2021 to 2022.

The costs of everything, from supplies to shipping, rent and taxes, have gone up.

short speech on time is money

Because of the huge amount of government money injected into the system, minimum-wage increases by California and other states, and pent-up demand by consumers.

How is Biden going to “deal with it”?

Tell companies they can’t raise prices to avoid losing money?

LIE 8: “[Inflation] was 9% when I came to office.”

This is the lie of the night.

Biden continues to pretend that the US was in terrible shape when he took office, when it was already on the rebound — thanks to Trump’s Warp Speed project that vaccinated people quickly against COVID.

Inflation was a measly 1.4% in January 2021.

Then Biden went on a first-year drunken-sailor spending spree, and inflation skyrocketed.

LIE 9: “They have the money to spend. It angers them and angers me that they have to spend more.”

They have the money to spend?

According to Bankrate, 76% of adults making less than $50,000 a year are living from paycheck to paycheck, an increase from 71% the year before that.

Biden need only watch the nightly news to see people cutting back on groceries, gas — even trips to McDonald’s — because their spending power has decreased.

LIE 10: “Civilians have been killed in Gaza as a consequence of those bombs, and other ways in which they go after population centers.”

short speech on time is money

It’s libel to suggest that Israel is deliberating targeting population centers .

Hamas embeds itself among the civilian population, creating bases inside hospitals and digging tunnels under residential apartments.

Israel has been warning the people of Rafah for more than a week to move to a safe zone outside the city.

They do not “go after” population centers, they work hard to minimize deaths while stopping the terrorists who kidnapped, raped and murdered Israeli civilians.

Smoke rises above building in Rafah.

LIE 11: “We’re not walking away from Israel’s security. We’re walking away from Israel’s ability to wage war in those areas.”

But defeating Hamas is integral to Israel’s security.

How does Biden suggest Israel win the war if it leaves the last stronghold of the terrorist group untouched?

Never miss a story.

LIE 12: “It made no sense in my view to engage in thinking in Iraq they have a nuclear weapon.”

Biden brought this up, saying he warned Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu not to “make the mistakes” we made in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Except Biden voted in favor of invading Iraq.

So Biden may regret that decision today, but it made sense to him back them.

An Ultra-Orthodox Jewish boy stands on a missile debris

LIE 13: “You can’t only love your country when you win.”

Someone had better tell all the celebrities and elites in the Democratic Party who claim they are going to move if Trump is re-elected, or say they “don’t know their country anymore,” or who burn American flags as they rally for Hamas .

Biden’s chiding of Trump with this line would carry more weight if he said it to his own voters.

LIE 14: “I travel around the world, other world leaders, know what they all say, 80% of them, ‘You gotta win. My democracy is at stake.’ ”

Maybe we can’t say this is absolutely a lie, but it sure sounds like one of those statements for which the press loves to go after Trump.

Are other world leaders really pulling Biden aside after his nap and saying “democracy is at stake” if he loses? Give us a break.

Protestors attacked a police officer at the US Capitol on Wednesday, January 6

LIE 15: “Then [Trump] is going to put in a 10% tax that’s going to increase average Americans’ cost $1,500 a year.”

Trump has proposed no such tax. Perhaps Biden means Trump’s plan for a 10% tariff on imported goods, which may or may not cost Americans more money.

You know who else is considering imposing tariffs? Biden. Just this week, under the headline “Biden Looks to Thwart Surge of Chinese Imports,” the New York Times notes that China is using unfair business practices and Biden wants to counter it.

What is a budget surplus? What time does the federal budget speech start? Where can I watch it?

The federal government is releasing its budget tonight.

And while this will inevitably involve a lot of political talk, it will also either directly or indirectly affect your finances.

Here's what to expect and what it could mean for you.

Not sure what the budget is all about? Tap the link below for a quick rundown, otherwise, just scroll past the link.

What is the federal budget?

What time is the federal budget speech.

Treasurer Jim Chalmers's speech is broadcast live from Parliament House in Canberra at:

  • 7:30pm AEST: ACT, New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania and Victoria
  • 7pm ACST : Northern Territory and South Australia
  • 5:30pm AWST: Western Australia

Where can I watch the federal budget speech?

It'll be broadcast on free-to-air television on ABC TV  as well as on the  ABC News Channel .

You can also stream it on ABC iview .

And you can watch the ABC News live stream via the ABC News website by clicking "watch live" at the top of the page.

We'll also be blogging the whole thing live on the ABC News website, which will have a live stream of the speech at the top of the article.

Where can I read the budget papers?

On the federal government's 2024-25 budget website .

There's only a countdown clock on there at the moment, but we're expecting it to be updated this evening.

What's in this year's budget?

Mr Chalmers has used words such as "sensible" and "responsible" to describe the new budget , saying there are no "slash and burn" cuts but there is also no spending "free-for-all".

Here are a few things we know about the budget already:

  • Student debt changes: The federal government wants to change how tertiary education loans are indexed , proposing a backdated scheme that would reduce the amount debts increased by and see some students get refunds from what they paid last year
  • Short-term cost-of-living relief: Mr Chalmers says some cost-of-living relief is coming but he hasn't gone into detail about it yet. He says it "won't be identical to what we've seen in the past but it will be substantial"
  • Changes to the tax brackets:  Dubbed the stage three tax cuts, they are something we've known about for months but  won't come into effect until July . Basically, Australia's tax brackets will change slightly, as will tax rates , benefiting both lower and higher-income earners

And expect to hear a lot about a budget surplus — something any government likes to make a big song and dance about.

What is a budget surplus?

A budget surplus means  the government makes more money than it has spent .

Specifically, we're going to be hearing about the government delivering a $9.3 billion surplus for the current financial year.

In very simple terms, it's the federal government's plan for how it'll collect and spend money in the coming financial year.

And this plan will impact your financial situation in one way or another, so it's quite important.

The government details this plan in a set of documents called the budget papers, which are hundreds of pages long and will be up for public viewing tonight.

Before the papers are officially published, the treasurer – a position currently held by Jim Chalmers – makes a speech in parliament summarising the plan.

It's a long speech, typically taking about half an hour.

And, generally speaking, these speeches talk up the positive points the government of the day wants to promote and gloss over the negatives.

That's why we have a team of journalists who will be combing through the nitty-gritty details of the budget papers to suss out the real-world impacts of these plans.

How does the federal budget impact me?

The budget shapes how our economy functions so its ripple effects have an impact on all of us whether you're a taxpayer or not.

But specific measures will impact certain groups of people more than others.

A good way to get a quick glimpse of these impacts is by reading what we call our winners and losers list, which sums up which groups will benefit the most from the new plan. We'll publish this later this evening.

When is the new financial year?

July 1.

That's about seven weeks away.

When is tax time?

Not for another seven weeks.

Technically, you can submit your tax return on July 1 , but you have more than 17 weeks to do it.

When are tax returns due?

October 31 .

But that's only if you're doing it yourself.

If you're going through a tax agent, you have to book you appointment before October 31 — but that doesn't mean your appointment has to be before October 31.

Trump cheered by thousands in big rally at the Jersey Shore

With boardwalk rides towering around him, former President Donald Trump on Saturday evening made sweeping vows about New Jersey, continued attacks on President Joe Biden , and railed about his legal troubles in a speech before thousands of supporters at a campaign rally on the beach in Wildwood.

Back on the campaign trail after a key week in his hush-money case , the presumptive Republican presidential nominee also compared his ( quickly debated ) crowd size to Bruce Springsteen’s, referenced Hannibal Lecter while warning about undocumented immigrants, threw punches the Garden State’s most recent two governors, and announced an endorsement in the state’s closely watched U.S. Senate race.

Trump started his 90-minute speech in the famed Jersey Shore city by once again predicting he will pull off an unlikely feat that no White House contender from his party has accomplished since 1988: carry the deep-blue Garden State, which he has lost twice by double digits.

“As you can see today, we’re expanding the electoral map,” he told the audience gathered on the sand six months to Election Day. “We’re going to win the state of New Jersey.”

Trump blasted Biden, his Democratic opponent, over the economy, repeatedly linking him to high inflation. At one point, he argued high prices on food which as hot dogs — like the one he said he ate just before the event — are draining Americans’ wallets.

The former Atlantic City casino mogul , who still spends summers at the golf club he owns in Bedminster , said voters in New Jersey and neighboring Pennsylvania — a critical swing state — should support him if they want “lower costs, higher income, and more weekends down at the Shore.”

He also declared he knows the Jersey Shore “better than more than most of the people that are here, I hate to tell you that,” adding “there’s nothing like it.”

“If you want to keep it going, you have to vote for a gentleman named Donald J. Trump,” said Trump, decked in a navy suit, red tie, and red MAGA hat.

“If Joe Biden wins this election, the middle class loses and New Jersey loses.”

And as former New York Giants Lawrence Taylor and Ottis Anderson watched from the crowd, Trump proclaimed dominance over New Jersey’s most beloved rock star.

“Is there anything better than a Trump rally?” Trump asked. “Bruce Springsteen. We have a much bigger crowd than Bruce Springsteen. Right?”

In other words, it was a Jersey edition of a sprawling, irreverent, and often-fact-checked Trump rally speech.

Biden, meanwhile, held a private fundraiser in Seattle on Saturday during which he said Trump is “clearly unhinged,” according to a report by CNN .

“It’s clear that … when he lost in 2020, something snapped in him,” the president told attendees. “Just listen to what he’s telling people.”

Still, Biden, the presumptive Democratic nominee, said he believes the election will be “close.”

short speech on time is money

Saturday marked the second time in four years Trump hosted a rally in Wildwood. The last time was a winter-season event inside the local convention center in 2020, 10 months before he lost to Biden.

This one was held outside along the Atlantic Ocean, with the boardwalk’s famous ferris wheel and Great White roller coaster providing the backdrop, during a breezy and busy May weekend. It comes as Trump and Biden prepare to face off in a rematch in November.

Trump said there were 100,000 people on hand. Lisa Fagan, a spokeswoman for the city, told The Associated Press she estimated the crowd to be between 80,000 and 100,000, based on having seen “dozens” of other events in the same space. That’s despite Wildwood’s mayor saying the area of the event could accommodate up to 40,000.

Debates over the crowd size erupted on social media.

U.S. Rep. Jeff Van Drew , R-2nd Dist., said from the stage this was the largest political rally in New Jersey history — though it likely falls short short of when then-presidential hopeful Franklin D. Roosevelt appeared in Sea Girt in 1932, a gathering that reportedly drew 120,000 people.

A number of people began exiting the beach as Trump’s speech passed the hour mark.

Saturday’s event also came as Trump continues to be on trial in a courtroom two hours north in Manhattan, a case that has limited his time on the campaign trail. This was only his third rally since the trial started four weeks ago.

He faces three other unrelated criminal indictments , as well.

Trump appeared in Wildwood under a judge’s gag order that limits his legal ability to comment publicly on witnesses, jurors, and some others connected to the trial. The judge already has fined him $9,000 for violating the order and warned jail could follow if he doesn’t comply.

At the rally, Trump compared himself to notorious gangster Al Capone.

“I got indicted more than him,” Trump said. “On bulls**t, too.”

He also alleged, without evidence, that Biden is behind the criminal charges he faces, saying he has been “forced to endure a Biden show trial, all done by Biden.” He derided the president as a “total moron,” as well.

Plus, he referred to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg as ”Fat Alvin” and said the judge is “highly conflicted.”

Trump has repeatedly accused the Biden administration and Democratic officials in New York of using the legal system to block his return to the Oval Office. Prosecutors allege Trump broke the law to conceal an affair with porn actor Stormy Daniels that would have hurt his first presidential bid.

Last week, Trump was forced to sit through testimony from Daniels, who described a sexual encounter with the former president in stunning detail. Trump is set to return to the courtroom next week, when prosecution witness Michael Cohen, Trump’s former fixer, expected to take the witness stand.

Democrats held a press call Friday ahead Trump’s appearance, noting the U.S. lost a net 2.7 million jobs during his time in office — a period affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Under Biden, U.S. employment is 10% above where it was when he took office.

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy , a Democrat, also smacked Trump on social media .

“As Trump holds his rally today in NJ, he remains focused on himself, not the American people,” Murphy wrote. “Joe Biden continues to deliver results: investing in infrastructure, reducing prescription drug costs, and protecting reproductive freedom. The choice is clear.”

National polls show a tight race . In New Jersey, a recent survey from Emerson College found Biden leading Trump here by 7 percentage points and by only 5 when third party candidates are added.

Though New Jersey is heavily Democratic, there are pockets of MAGA support here. Wildwood is in the middle of one swath.

Saturday’s crowd also included many residents who said they came from out of state, including Pennsylvania. While some questioned why Trump would spend time in New Jersey, a Trump campaign official told CNN the campaign believes it could get local TV coverage in nearby Philadelphia.

“I went to school in Pennsylvania,” Trump, a 1968 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, reminded them.

Trump said he plans to make a play for several other traditionally blue states, such as Minnesota and Virginia.

“And actually many other states. This guy’s so damn bad, it could be all of them,” he said of Biden.

Toward the end of his speech, Trump noted New Jersey is “home to some of the toughest, smartest, and most talented Americans ever to walk the face of the earth.”

“This is the state that pioneered the boardwalk, the diner, the motion picture, and gave the world America legends like Thomas Edison, Buzz Aldrin, Frank Sinatra, and so many more,” he said.

“Now, we are a nation in decline. We are a failing nation. We are a nation that has lost its confidence, has lost its willpower and has lost its strength. ... But we are not going to allow this horror to continue.”

That wasn’t the only time Trump mentioned Sinatra, a Hoboken native. In his remarks about hot dogs, he recalled how Sinatra once told him: “Never eat before you perform.”

“I’m not performing. I’m a politician, if you can believe it,” Trump said.

It would be a huge upset for Trump to take New Jersey. He lost the state to Biden by 16 percentage points in 2020 to Democrat Hillary Clinton by 14 points in 2016. Registered Democrats outnumber registered Republicans here by about 1 million.

Michael Tyler, communication director for Biden’s campaign, rejected the idea of Trump winning the state.

“I think here on Planet Earth in the Biden campaign, we’re going to remain laser-focused on winning 270 electoral votes,” Tyler said. “We’re focused on communicating directly with the voters who are actually going to decide this presidential election.”

  • MORE: Democrats strike at Trump ahead of N.J. rally

During Saturday’s speech, Trump also repeated his unfounded claims that the 2020 election was stolen from him, called mail-in voting “corrupt,” thanked the U.S. Supreme Court justices he appointed for helping overturn Roe v. Wade, said he would leave abortion policies up to the states, and promised to deport any foreign student who bring “jihadism or antisemitism” to colleges in the U.S.

He also stood by Israel in its war with Hamas in Gaza, saying he supports the country’s “right to win its war on terror.”

“Is that OK? I don’t know,” Trump said. " I don’t know if that’s good or bad politically. I don’t care.”

During comments about curbing undocumented immigration, Trump brought up “the late, great Hannibal Lecter,” the notorious serial killer/cannibal in the 1991 film “The Silence of the Lambs.”

“He’s a wonderful man,” Trump said.

He noted the scene at the end of the movie, where Lecter says he is “having an old friend for dinner” as he peers toward his next victim.

“Remember the last scene? ‘Excuse me, I’m about to have a friend for dinner,’ as this poor doctor walked by. ‘I’m about to have a friend for dinner.’”

Trump has mentioned the character before when making claims that mental patients are coming over the U.S. border — which his campaign has not shown evidence to support .

Meanwhile, Trump cracked jokes about Republican Chris Christie , a one-time ally turned rival who consistently blasted the former president during a presidential campaign that ended weeks before the New Hampshire primary .

“Does anybody like Chris Christie?” Trump asked. “He was a major case of Trump derangement system.”

He referred to Christie as a “fat pig,” as well — an insult he has used before .

Trump then knocked Murphy, promising supporters that if he wins in November, they “won’t have to worry about Gov. Murphy and his 157 windmills” — nods to the wind turbine program at the center of the Democratic governor’s energy policies .

“We are going to make sure that ends on Day 1,” Trump said.

Trump’s appearance was a spectacle in Wildwood. From the boardwalk, curious onlookers peered through gaps in a blue plastic barrier attached to a chain link fence running the length of the venue space. Some tore holes in the plastic to get a better view as Trump spoke.

Trump flew from New York City to New Jersey in his trademark blue plane, which soared low over the rally around 4 p.m. His motorcade — carrying North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, a possible vice presidential pick — passed under the boardwalk around 5:30 p.m.

The former president arrived on stage around 6:30 p.m. to a roar from the crowd. He finished his remarks just before 8 p.m.

Trump also weighed into a critical local race, endorsing Mendham Borough Mayor Christine Serrano Glassner in the high-stakes election for the New Jersey U.S. Senate seat currently held by indicted Democrat Robert Menendez .

Serrano Glassner is running in the primary for the Republican nomination against developer Curtis Bashaw. She has ties to the former president: Her husband, Republican operative Michael Glassner, helped manage Trump’s 2016 campaign and was chief operating officer of Trump’s 2020 re-election bid.

“She’s a fantastic woman,” Trump said. “I’m giving her my complete and total endorsement.”

Both Serrano Glassner and Bashaw — who lives in nearby Cape May — were in the audience at the rally.

“I was going to stay out of it, but you’re running against a Christie person,” Trump said of Bashaw, who donated to Christie’s presidential campaigns.

Earlier in the rally, Van Drew, a Republican who represents Wildwood in Congress, told the audience “we remember four years ago, when we had a great economy.”

“There is nothing wrong with saying you believe in America,” said the congressman, a former Democrat who switched parties in 2020 and became a vocal Trump backer.

He also touted Trump’s stance on immigration to a cheering crowd.

“Immigration is a good thing,” Van Drew said. “Legal immigration.”

Spotted along the boardwalk were a few people wearing T-shirts that read “Proud Boys,” a right-wing group the Anti-Defamation League has labeled as extremist . Among the crowds gathered at the entrance to the beach awaiting Trump’s arrival were three masked Proud Boys members .

Police said no permits for counterprotests were filed with Wildwood.

TOYOTA TEAMS & ATHLETES

"Devoting Time and Money to Strengthen our Foundations"

short speech on time is money

At the financial results briefing on May 8, Toyota's forecast included a 2 trillion yen investment in the future. How does the company plan to pursue sustainable growth?

Toyota announced its financial results for the fiscal year to March 2024, recording an operating income of 5.3529 trillion yen.

A breakdown of the figures was provided by Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Yoichi Miyazaki. Afterward, President Koji Sato shared his thoughts on the forecast operating income of 4.3 trillion yen for the coming fiscal year, as well as key topics for Toyota.

The year ahead will see Toyota commit 2 trillion yen for the future, investing in people— including suppliers and dealers—as well as its transformation into a mobility company.

With these results, President Sato outlined the key themes for fiscal 2025: battery electric vehicles (BEVs), hydrogen, engines, software-defined vehicles (SDVs)*, and strengthening the company’s foundations.

Building on the business foundations established through Toyota’s product- and region-centered management, what kind of growth strategy does President Sato envision? We share his speech below.

President Sato’s speech – Key themes for Toyota’s transformation

President Sato

short speech on time is money

In announcing these financial results, I would like to express our company’s sincere gratitude to its Toyota, Lexus, and GR customers, as well as to all other stakeholders for their support.

In the previous fiscal year, our diverse product lineup enabled us to provide our customers with many cars.

short speech on time is money

We believe that this achievement is the result of years of determined product-centered management and the building up of our business foundation.

Based on this business foundation, we intend to draw up further growth strategies for sustainable growth. To that end, we will continue to focus on giving concrete form to our vision of transforming into a mobility company in this fiscal year.

This means helping create a mobility-based society by increasing the added value of cars, with the aim of building a new industrial structure.

To achieve that, we will take on the challenge together with many colleagues, with a sense of mission.

We believe that the key to this transformation is increasing the mobility of energy and data.

short speech on time is money

In other words, looking toward a future supported by electricity and hydrogen, we believe that cars should serve as a medium to transport energy and contribute to creating a society centered on renewable energy. Also, we aim to further enrich people’s lives with mobility value created through data.

This fiscal year’s key themes in working toward that future are the “materialization of multi-pathway solutions” and the “creation of a foundation for software-defined vehicles, done in the Toyota way” that will realize diverse mobility values for our customers.

Over the past year, we have been advancing toward embracing battery EVs, which were our missing piece.

Our challenge to create a new vehicle architecture is progressing due to technological advances in aerodynamics and heat management, as well as the development of compact and lightweight powertrains and other major components.

These elemental technologies can be applied in the future to the development of plug-in hybrid vehicles and others, leading to a diverse, multi-pathway lineup of vehicles.

2. Hydrogen

Regarding hydrogen, we have accelerated the creation of foundations for commercialization in various regions.

In addition to developing and implementing hydrogen mobility in the commercial domain, we are also providing fuel cell systems for various applications, such as trains, ships, and generators, and pursuing initiatives in producing and storing hydrogen.

short speech on time is money

Going forward, we would like to accelerate the social implementation of hydrogen mobility, including infrastructure, together with our partners, especially in Europe, China, and North America, where hydrogen consumption is particularly high.

Furthermore, we will continue to work with determination on the future of the internal combustion engine.

Even in a future in which energy centers on electricity and hydrogen, we plan to continue actively advancing next-generation engines, with an eye toward using e-fuel and other liquid fuels.

short speech on time is money

To realize a software-defined vehicle the Toyota way, we have spent the past year focusing on developing our Arene on-vehicle operating system and building foundations for software.

Moving forward, we aim to increase our efforts to evolve mobility that utilizes generative AI, including automated driving, and we plan to expand AI-related investments.

Also, to further develop a foundation for software-defined vehicles, we plan to establish strategic partnerships beyond the automotive industry, including in infrastructure and apps and services closely related to daily life.

5. Strengthening our foundations

Even as we pursue these initiatives, our unwavering core is being a carmaker.

We will change the future of cars. Meeting this challenge requires a foundation for solid carmaking.

In that sense, our top priority for future growth is to strengthen our work foundation by facing head-on the issues of irregularities at member companies of our corporate group and Toyota’s lack of reserve capacity.

Therefore, this fiscal year, we will determinedly devote the money and time needed to strengthen our work foundation.

Desiring to create today how we will work 10 years from now, we will strive to generate reserve capacity to ensure thorough safety and quality and firmly endeavor to develop a skilled workforce by improving individual skills based on job descriptions.

short speech on time is money

This fiscal year, in addition to our 1.7 trillion yen investment in growth areas, we plan to dedicate 380 billion yen to such investment in human resources to strengthen our work foundation and to change how we work, together with our suppliers and dealers.

I have shared with you our thoughts and priority themes for the current fiscal year.

The most important thing is execution.

We will take on the challenge of achieving a mobility-based society together with many partners while responding to issues and changes that come to light only after we have first decided what to do and have started doing it.

We would greatly appreciate your support and understanding.

President Sato’s speech was followed by a Q&A session, during which he was asked to elaborate on the topic of strengthening Toyota’s foundations. “Rather than incremental improvements,” he pointed out, “our biggest challenge is that we lack the reserve capacity to make major changes that would transform our business structure.”

Regarding the impact on productivity, President Sato explained, “Development has become highly sophisticated, resulting in more reworking. Given these circumstances, although the standard development lead time is fixed, the amount of reworking will fall if job descriptions are clearly defined and we ensure that basic operations are properly executed. While at first glance it may seem like a drop in efficiency, I’m certain that total efficiency and productivity will rise.”

Could Donald Trump really go to jail for gag order violations?

Donald Trump sits inside court at his hush money trial in New York, while a court officer peers over his shoulder; the background is an aerial view of Rikers Island Jail in New York.

If Donald Trump keeps trying the patience of the judge presiding over his hush money trial, the former president could wind up back in his home New York City borough of Queens — specifically the prison on Rikers Island, experts said Monday.

Judge Juan Merchan, who on Monday found that Trump once again had violated a gag order that bars him from disparaging witnesses or the jury, warned the ex-president could face jail “if necessary” for further violations.

Merchan did not specify which jail. But when asked what would happen if the judge sent Trump to Rikers, Frank Dwyer the jail’s top spokesperson said, “The department would find appropriate housing.”

Trump has contended that he’s the victim of a two-tiered justice system that is treating him more harshly than other individuals. But the former president's critics say it is actually the other way around — that any other criminal defendant who made the kind of public statements Trump has made would have already found themselves behind bars.

The prospect of having Trump locked up while on trial is sure to elicit strong responses from both his supporters and detractors. Trump has repeatedly tried to fundraise off the prospect of being jailed, indicating that his campaign finds that evoking images of him as a political prisoner prompts strong responses from his supporters.

Mike Lawlor, an associate professor of criminal justice at the University of New Haven in Connecticut, said Rikers is the likeliest destination if Merchan goes that route.

What Marchan is trying to do is “end the contempt” and stop Trump from intimidating witnesses and jurors, said Lawlor, a Democrat who is a former member of the Connecticut House of Representatives.

“The whole point is to separate him from his social media,” Lawlor said. “Putting him in jail would do that.”

Trump would immediately be placed in protective custody for his own protection, Lawlor said, meaning he would not be permitted to mingle with the rest of the prison population.

“He’d have no contact with anybody but corrections officers and members of his Secret Service detail,” Lawlor said. “The people at Rikers have lots of experience dealing with high profile prisoners, including vulnerable, elderly people like Trump."

"Clearly, he would be the highest profile prisoner ever jailed in Rikers, but he wouldn’t be the only high profile prisoner in Rikers,” Lawlor said of Trump, who is 77.

In fact, one of those prisoners is Trump’s former chief financial officer Allen Weisselberg , who was sentenced last month to five months at Rikers after pleading guilty to two counts of perjury during Trump’ s civil fraud trial.

Also, Trump would have to go through the intake process that every prisoner goes through, including the ignominy of having corrections officers making "him get on a scale and then list his actual height and weight on the public website," Lawlor said.

Having Trump behind bars would not be an extra burden on his Secret Service detail, Lawlor added.

“The main job of a Secret Service detail is to protect a former president from being harmed or kidnapped,” Lawlor said. “Having Trump confined to a prison setting would, in some ways, actually make their job easier.”

"The larger issue" is where the Secret Service would be, given that they are armed," said Martin F. Horn, a professor emeritus at John Jay College of Criminal Justice who once served as commissioner of New York City’s correction and probation departments.

Most likely, Horn said, Trump would be taken to what's called the West Facility, where there would be room enough for the ex-president and his security detail and no other inmates to contend with.

Still, having to ensure the safety of a former U.S. president behind bars would be an unprecedented assignment for the Secret Service, a spokesperson for the agency told NBC News.

The Secret Service does not have its own "custodial services," the spokesperson said.

“Obviously, it’s uncharted territory,” Horn said. “No state prison system has had to deal with this before, and no federal prison has had to either.”

There is another reason Merchan might not be keen on jailing Trump, other experts said.

Being sent to an actual jail may be “what Trump wants to show grievance to his supporters,” Dave Aronberg, a state attorney for Palm Beach County, Florida, which is where Trump lives most of the time, said in a MSNBC interview with José Díaz-Balart .

More likely, Merchan could give Trump a "time out" in a cell behind the New York City courtroom where he is currently on trial.

Former federal prosecutor Michael Zeldin, who took part in the same interview, agreed.

"Maybe an hour in one of those cells might be all that Donald Trump needs to understand the seriousness of violations of gag orders imposed by a very serious judge," Zeldin said.

House arrest is also a possibility, but the judge "has wide latitude about where he could confine" Trump, Horn said.

Lawlor said Merchan is unlikely to confine Trump to a gilded cage, like his apartment in Trump Tower, because he'd still have access to electronics and his aides and be able to defy the judge's orders from there.

"So I don’t think he’d be confined to his Manhattan apartment," Lawlor said.
