Essay on My First Journey by Train in 500 Words

Travelling by train is so much fun, cosy, and interesting. Indian railways have made intercity and interstate journeys so interesting and smooth. My first journey by train was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I will never forget.

My First Journey by Train

My first journey by train was from Delhi to Dehradun. This was a 6-hour 20-minute journey with my family, where we all laughed, ate lunch, and watched the beauty of the Ganga Plains.

When I saw the New Delhi Railway Station, I had a mixed feeling of excitement and anxiety, nervousness and exhilaration. Everyone at the station was in a hurry, the platform was filled with passengers waiting for their train, and the classic Indian Railway announcement was over the speakers.

As I stepped off the train in Dehradun, a sense of achievement swept through me. I was amazed not only by the destination but also by the amazing journey. My wanderlust was sparked by this first train trip, which was a treasure trove of experiences that left me with lifelong memories.

Advantages of Journey by Train

  • Trains let you stretch out and sleep on long journeys, unlike buses or cars.
  • There isn’t a luggage limitation. Unlike flying, where there is a weight limit, travelling by rail allows one to bring as much luggage as they desire.
  • Long trips are made more comfortable by the restrooms on trains.
  • On a train, one can work or study in comfort using a laptop. As a result, the time spent travelling can be used effectively.
  • Trains are much more cost-effective than taxis and aeroplanes. It is possible to travel large distances at a low price.

Disadvantages of Journey by Train

  • The requirement to arrange the trip and purchase tickets several days in advance is one of the main drawbacks of taking the train. This is not like travelling by bus or vehicle, where one can make plans and start the journey the next day.
  • Purchasing a ticket might be rather demanding. When purchasing tickets at the train station, customers must wait in queue for hours. Purchasing train tickets online also takes a lot of time because the railway booking website might occasionally become quite slow owing to high usage.
  • Although there are restrooms and washrooms on the trains, they are not as sanitary and clean as they ought to be.
  • There are several reasons why trains are frequently delayed. This can be very tiresome and irritating.
  • Train travel takes far longer than aeroplane travel. For people who have an urgent need to get somewhere, it is not a good alternative.

Travelling by train has its benefits and drawbacks. While making advance plans, purchasing tickets, and adhering to rigorous train schedules might be annoying, they also have certain benefits, such as comfortable travel and efficient use of time. I truly enjoy taking train trips, having taken several of them.

Paragraph on my first journey by train

Ans: Writing a journey-by-train essay requires you to organise your story. Set the setting, introduce any characters, and then give an overview of the events or characters. Explain the trip, mentioning the sights and sensations, and consider their importance or influence. Summarise your feelings and thoughts to close.

Ans: Travelling by train is affordable, cosy, and interesting. That alone is a whole experience. Rather than hurrying to reach where I’m going, I prefer to take my time when travelling by train. I’ve met a lot of new individuals and made a lot of friends on my rail journeys.

Ans: Grammar-wise, both travel by train and by train are acceptable. Depending on your preference, you may use either phrase. You could say, for instance, that you enjoy travelling by train or that you prefer to travel by rail.

A Journey by Train Essay/Paragraph

During last summer vacation, I went on a family trip to Puri with my family. This was my first long journey by train. We reached the Howrah railway station with all our luggage quite early. The train departed from Howrah at around 9 o’clock in the morning. When I looked outside everything was running behind, I loved that scene. The train was moving quite fast. The whole train was crowded.

After boarding, we had our breakfast. I always prefer a window seat, because I can enjoy beautiful nature from there. I was impressed by the beauty of the landscape. Watching the beautiful natural scenes outside gave me extreme happiness. The train finally reached the Puri station at 6 o’clock in the evening. It was an exciting train journey.

Short Essay on A Journey by Train

Train journeys are always very exciting. We get to meet a lot of new people. Two weeks back had a train journey. The name of the train was Howrah-Dhanbad Black Diamond Express. My destination was Asansol. The train departed from Howrah around 6.40 in the morning. The weather was pleasant and I took a window seat.

Most of the passengers inside the train compartment were either reading a newspaper or sleeping. I started reading one of my favourite novels. The constant yelling of the hawkers forced me to close the book and look out of the window. Around 8.30 in the morning I bought a cup of coffee and a packet of biscuits from a hawker. Having small sips in the coffee concentrated on the visuals and images that changed rapidly outside the train compartment.

I noticed that concrete jungle have paved its way to lush green fields and ponds with trees surrounding them. Farmers were tilling children were going to school through the mud track. The ambiance outside was serene and in complete contrast with the atmosphere inside the train.

Introduction:

Once I read a poem. I still remember some of  its lines as follows:

“All of the sights of the hill and the plain Fly as thick as driving rain; And ever again, in the wink of an eye Painted stations whistle by.” (From A Railway Carriage-RL Stevenson)

A journey by a speeding train is an exciting experience. The modern age seems to be obsessed with speed. So people prefer to travel by the railways than by road.

Description of the Journey:

One day, my father announced that we were going to visit Shantiniketan during the winter holidays. I was simply thrilled. On the scheduled day, we reached Howrah station in the morning. The Shantiniketan Express stood majestically at the platform. The station was humming with the din and bustle. There were rings of people before the ticket counters. We entered a compartment and settled down for the journey. I managed a seat beside a window. Soon the signal was green at the far end of the platform. Within a minute, the train began to move. We glided out of the station. Then it picked up speed.

As the train thundered on, I surrendered my ears to the rattle of the train wheels. They were making rickety-rackety sounds when they rolled over the tracks. I looked outside through the window to get a view of the Nature outside. The train was passing by harvested fields, meadows, brooklets, and small ponds. Through the window, the world outside looked like a motion picture. Everything looked very bright and pleasant in the morning sunshine.

I looked about my compartment. Father was flipping through a magazine. Mother was chatting with an elderly couple. The hawkers and vendors were selling various foodstuffs. A beggar was singing a song while begging. In the meantime, the train reached at Guskara station. After half an hour it reached Bolpur.

My Feelings:

I got spellbound to see the fantastic wild beauty of nature through the window. The greatness of God manifested in nature’s creations. I remembered some lines of a poem-

“The true pleasing spirits sight’s That may breed true love’s delights” (Nicholas Breton)

The breeze was gentle, fresh, glorious, and a pleasure to breathe. It was pouring into our compartment from outside. I sometimes lost my sense of individuality and seemed to expand through the window. Thus, I wanted to establish a magical link with nature.

Conclusion:

Thus ended my first train journey. This journey was so pleasant that l experienced an intense high.

My train journey from Lucknow to Kathgodam is probably 8-10 hours duration. However, I enjoy every minute of it in spite of the journey being so long. Furthermore, all along the journey, one can purchase items of food and drinks. I almost always purchase meals and refreshments at least twice in the journey.

When slumber overtakes me, I make use of the sleeping berth. I personally find sleeping on the train berth very comfortable. When I wake after a deep sleep, mountains are visible from a distance. Moreover, as the train approaches Kathgodam with menacing speed, the view of mountains gets bigger and bigger. Also, my amusement greatly rises as I see the Himalayas draw closer. Finally, as the train stops at Kathgodam, my delightful train journey comes to an end.

Because getting to sit on window seats on trains is such pure joy, kids often love taking them. Train rides offer a break from the routine. Children lustily yearn for the variety of available foods when riding local trains, which are designed to travel small distances. India's regional trains may not seem to provide much comfort, yet for many they are essential elements of survival, given that they are the quickest and least expensive form of transportation.

The most typical thing in the modern world is a train trip. We all require transportation since we need to travel long distances for various reasons, be it leisure or work. We must have all travelled by train when on holiday with relatives. Train rides are highly thrilling, fascinating, and cosy. One of the most convenient and affordable forms of long-distance transportation is by train. It's amazing how learning about different cultures, geographies, languages, and cuisines can be enhanced by taking a train. The trip is similar to reading a book that includes everything you need to keep you occupied until you get there. The possibility to engage with people from diverse language and ethnic backgrounds is another benefit of travelling by train.

While travelling by train, one can pass time by reading a book, listening to music, viewing movies, or relaxing pleasantly. In conclusion, travelling by train is absolutely unique. There is a thrill of being on time, the adventure of exploring local sites and the happiness of being able to travel comfortably and safely.

Trains Are More Than Transportation

Not only is a train a means of transportation, it links individuals and gives them access to resources like employment, communities, and commodities. It provides necessary social services. We frequently read in novels and periodicals about the wonderful experience of using trains. Our hearts are filled with adventure, pleasure, and delight as we read them.

Benefits Of Travelling By Train

One of the main benefits of travelling by train is comfort. Most importantly, there is freedom of movement within a railway car. Additionally, there may be plenty of foot room in trains. Passengers travelling longer distances by train can also sleep cosily within a train.

An additional significant advantage of train travel is the stunning scenery one gets to see enroute to their destination. One may take in the scenery while the train goes, including views of the countryside, farms, woods, factories, etc. This makes train trips more thorough than those by air. There are several ways to spend time on trains. One could read a book, chat with fellow passengers, watch movies, or even play games. Trains usually provide a friendly atmosphere as people often gel with their fellow passengers and form new friendships.

My Train Journey To Shillong

One of my uncles manages a tea plantation in Shillong. He invited my family to visit during the harvesting season. We decided to go for a vacation. We arrived at the Kolkata train station at 9 am on the scheduled day and bought 3 tickets for the 11 am train. The station has improved significantly since it first started. Coming from Kolkata, it was a lengthy journey.

During my journey on the train, many hawkers entered while I was inside the train. They were selling a variety of goods. Some were selling candies and snacks, others were selling copies of documents, perfumes, and so on. These local railway hawkers were known for their ability to outsell any copywriter with their own sales pitch. They did not use boring or lifeless sales pitches.

While selling goods, some people performed songs while others impersonated politicians. They had a really unique appreciation for books. This journey was one of my core memories as it was my first train journey ever. Me and my family had a lot of fun on the train journey from Kolkata to Shillong.

A Journey by Train Essay 500 Words

journey by train

A few people today fly by aeroplanes. The remaining people travel by buses, cars and scooters. Sometimes they travel by the ships to the various countries, but I like a journey by train. Once my cousin’s marriage was to be celebrated. I had a chance to travel by train up-to Amritsar. Amritsar is far away from Bombay. Actually I traveled by air to Delhi and stayed there with my brother for a fortnight before I decided to travel by train with the marriage party.

We started from the New Delhi Railway Station. We had already got our seats reserved in a second class compartment. Forty persons started along with my cousin who was to be married. We had got enough luggage with us. There were children and ladies with us.

Journey by Train Essay in English for all class

The train started at 8 a.m. and we were soon out of Delhi and reached the Panipat Railway Station, where the train halted for eight minutes. We ordered tea and all of us had a cup of tea each. The train became late and we don’t know the reason why it happened. We started from Panipat at 9.45 a.m. after waiting for about half an hour.

I wanted to see outside the compartment. Therefore, I occupied my seat near the window of the compartment. I saw the trees flying fast like the train running at top speed. Everything appeared to be in motion.

Paragraph on my first Train Journey

I looked at the sky. The sun was moving fast. I asked my father why it happens so. He told me that the train was in motion and we were sitting in the train, therefore, everything appears to be in motion. But actually those things are not in motion and it is our train that moves along. Anyhow, it was a good experience to watch men move fast outside. Not to speak of the people alone, we saw the running vehicles also.

Thus, our train halted at Karnal and Ambala. We had some refreshment at Ambala. The train was moving fast again. But at the platform of Ambala, we saw sturdy Sikh gentlemen running up and down in large numbers. They were anxious to go to Amritsar. All of them caught the same train and occupied our neighboring compartment. I enquired of one person who entered our compartment and he said that they were going to join a marriage party. I wondered how two marriage-parties were travelling in the same train. Two Sikh Youngman were singing songs and we could hear their ‘songs well. Thus we also enjoyed their songs in neighboring compartment.

Essay on a journey by train 500 words

At about 5.30 p.m. our train reached Amritsar. All of us got Out of the train and started for our destination. Nearby a temple and a Dharamshala were obtained for us. We stayed in the Dharamshala.

One thing is worth mentioning. The train had run very fast and we reached our destination in a matter of hours. We felt a little hungry but at the platform we could get everything and that also at a very cheap rate. I enjoyed my journey very much. I kept on chatting with my brother who was with me.

There was no over-crowding as we find in buses. We sat comfortably in our seats. We had a nap also sometimes, but we reached safe and sound. We were much happy to reach Amritsar from where, four hours afterwards, the marriage party was to return.

Essay on Train Journey

A train is not just a vehicle. It carries emotion; it carries the joy of moving forward, it carries the thrill of speed. Many times, when we read about any train journey in a book or on the internet, we are told the story of traveling in inter-state trains. However, a local train-journey is not devoid of thrill, adventure and happiness either. There is a thrill of being on time, the adventure of exploring local sites and the happiness of being able to travel comfortably and safely.

Details of My Memorable Train Journey

Last week I traveled to ____________ from _____________ on a local train. It was my maiden train journey. I had always dreamt of visiting ___________ and too by a Train. I was very excited and had made all the arrangements on the previous night. I woke up earlier that day, had my bath and  breakfast. I prepared myself for the journey I was very excited about, I wore my favorite clothes and took some light snacks with me.  I reached the station at 10 am. Just from the first look at the station I knew this was going to be a very thrilling and adventurous journey. The station itself had many stories to tell. There were so many people- families, office-goers, masons, laborers, vendors, the fruit hawkers and food sellers and so on. All looked so busy, so full of life.  I checked into the station and located the platform where my Train was going to arrive. I reached the particular platform no. and sat on one of the many available benches. There were many people waiting for their respective trains. One train arrived just 5 mins after I reached the platform but that was to a separate destination and my train was coming after that. People boarded that train, it waited for a few minutes and after that it departed. As I was sitting in the station for my train to arrive, I saw many trains come and go at different platforms. A deep realization engulfed me- the trains come and go, the station remains the same.

My Experience of Train Journey

Almost 15 minutes later, our train arrived. The train was pretty new and had a very attractive color combination of maroon and blue painted on it. It had “Made In India” written on it in  big letters and our national flag was painted next to it. I felt very proud about it and got more excited about this journey. Since this was my first time travelling by train, I wanted to experience the moment at its fullest and thus before boarding the train I waited to see how the passengers boarded the train and how people wanted to get in first so that they could sit on a seat. After I was done with my experience, I boarded the train before its departure time. I got into the train and was eagerly looking for a seat so that I could sit.  There was so much rush as it was office hour. At first, there was no seat for us to sit. All those who were standing were trying to get themselves a seat but once we moved for a few minutes, everyone settled with their position in the Train, some got a seat and some didn’t. The train started moving and the station moved backwards. The sound it created as the Train moved was something new to me, I had heard it in the movies and dramas but experiencing it first hand was something very enthralling. I was imagining how this sound was being created as the train rolled on the tracks, the giant size and huge weight of the train could be realized as the train accelerated and the sound got louder. It felt so amazing to imagine that the train was still but the trees and the houses were moving. However, it was hard for me to look out from the window because of the crowd. I still managed to stand near the window and get myself a look outside. There were green meadows somewhere and at some places we could see the concrete jungles, buildings and houses constructed alongside the train track. The beauty of green meadows is what I liked the most and wished we could have more of them, the beauty of nature I experienced in the moving train seemed to be more lively and soothing than the commercial areas. There were different kinds of people in the train involved in distinct activities of their own, some in the groups and some alone. The office goers were the regular commuters, so they remained in their group and talked about politics and the sports. The women in the train were sitting and wiping the sweat off their faces. I saw two senior citizens. They were standing. It felt good to see that some of the passengers offered their seats to those two people. However, there were some rowdies too in the train who were standing near the door and were blocking the entrance. People were finding it hard to enter the train because of them.

As two or three stations passed, the crowd in the train became thin. Now, I can enjoy the journey. I got a seat. The typical sound of the train moving had a rhythm to it. It felt musical. While seated, I could feel the rhythm of the moving train in a better way. I grabbed the snacks I had with me and started to enjoy the journey. Outside the window, I could see the meadows, the houses, the cows and goats. The train was moving at a decent speed and the air from the window brushed my face. It felt good in the sweltering heat. There was a couple sitting on the opposite seat. They had a 5-year old daughter traveling with them. Somehow, the family and I started a conversation and it felt good to meet new people.

I talked to other people in the train as well and they told me about the conveniences the train travel gives them over taking a cab or driving a car themselves. They also explained the difficulties they face in the Train travel like rushin the train, delays in the train timing, cancellation of trains at times and inadequate  seating capacity of the trains. But most of them were very happy with the new trains, people explained that these trains were more comfortable and affordable to them and also the cancellation and delay problems were very less with the new trains.

Train Journey Essay Free PDF Download

While I was on the train, many hawkers boarded the compartment. They were selling different kinds of things. Some were selling toffees and snack items, some were selling files and copies, some were selling perfumes and so on. The speciality of these local train hawkers was, they can outshine any advertisement-writer with their own sales-pitch. Their sales pitches were not bland and dry. Some sang songs, some imitated the politicians while selling things. They had a very distinct sense of literature.

At this point I realized how different forms of employment were generated by introduction of railways and I couldn't even imagine the number of families that were dependent on the trains for their livelihood. I also got to know the fact that Indian railways is the largest employer in India and employs about 1500000 people. The hawkers were changing frequently, they boarded at one station and unboarded after a few stations. Then new hawkers came in at that station and the cycle continued.

There was one thing that I wish I had not experienced. Apart from the green meadows and huge constructions that I saw from the windows, I also saw countless huts and tin-shade houses. There were many slums that were present beside the rail line. The poverty all around was disheartening to see. I could see the children living in these huts and tin houses, somewhere playing and some were helping their parents in doing their work. I wished that they could go to the school and get education so that they could be earning good and could then help their parents and build themselves decent houses. I promised myself to help these poor people when I start earning money.

The train was about to reach my destination station, the rush had again built up and I thought of going near the exit so that it would be easier for me to unboard. I prepared my bag and offered my seat to another person who was standing near my seat. As the train stopped at my destination station, I got down. After leaving the station, I felt like I was living on another planet for the past 40 minutes. It was not a train journey. It was an epiphany.

Train journeys are super fun, especially when traveling by train with a group of friends. One of my most memorable journeys by train was my journey from Delhi to Jaipur. It was a school trip, and we were all really excited about it. We had numerous plans for the trip and were especially looking forward to having a great time on our way.

We all reached the railway station by 6 in the morning, and the train ride started within a few minutes. I occupied the window seat to see the view outside. The view of the green fields, muddy roads, and huts on the way was delightful. My best friend sat beside me, and we chatted as we looked outside.

Soon, it was time for breakfast. I loved the cutlets and bread served on the train. We also had hot tomato soup after having a plate of bread and cutlets. After breakfast, we all decided to play antakshari . Playing antakshari in large groups is always fun. Our teachers also joined us, thereby adding to the fun. We played antakshari for the rest of the journey, and before we even knew it, we had reached our destination. It was a great experience. Essay on ‘A Journey by Train to Shimla’ – Essay 3 (300 words)

Train journeys hold a unique charm, especially when they lead to enchanting destinations like Shimla. However, what makes the journey even more captivating is the special toy train that runs from Kalka to Shimla, winding through breathtaking landscapes. A trip to Shimla remains incomplete without experiencing this iconic train ride. Thus, we planned our Shimla trip well in advance and secured our tickets for this much-talked-about train journey.

Our Journey to Shimla by Toy Train

During last year’s autumn break, we embarked on a memorable journey to Shimla. We began our travel by bus to Kalka, the starting point of our adventure with the toy train. Initially, I expected it to be just another train journey, offering glimpses of mountains and valleys. However, it turned out to be an exhilarating and extraordinary experience. Throughout our journey, we found ourselves immersed in the lap of nature, not merely observing the mountains, valleys, and lush greenery, but feeling like an integral part of this natural wonder as the train gracefully traversed the mountains.

Spanning a duration of 5-6 hours, this journey was filled with thrills and excitement. The route featured a multitude of tunnels and bridges that added to the allure. There were more than 100 tunnels and approximately 800 bridges along the route. I remained glued to the window seat, relishing the splendid vistas outside. At one point, the train made a brief stop at a quaint station, affording us a brief ten-minute break to explore.

Throughout the journey, my parents and brother shared in my delight, finding it as enjoyable as I did. We chose the same train for our return journey, unwilling to miss out on a second opportunity to savor this captivating experience.

Undoubtedly, this train journey stands out as the most remarkable one in my life. My deep love for nature made this journey even more special. I sincerely hope for a chance to traverse this enchanting route once more, as it left an indelible mark on my heart.

Essay on ‘My First Train Journey’ – Essay4 (400 words)

My First Train Journey

My very first train journey was an unforgettable experience that I embarked on when I was in the 2nd standard. It was a special trip to attend my maternal aunt’s wedding in Dehradun. As soon as the news of the wedding spread, excitement and joy filled our home. My mother began planning her outfits, while my father organized our travel arrangements. We decided to travel by train, accompanied by a few relatives, marking my maiden voyage on a train.

Planning the Train Journey

Train journeys require meticulous planning for a smooth and enjoyable trip. My parents carefully studied the available trains on our route to select the most convenient option. We booked our tickets well in advance, packed our bags, and ensured that all necessary arrangements were in place for our journey.

The Journey Begins

Our train journey commenced as a night voyage. We arrived at the railway station on time, settled into our seats, and, within a few minutes, the train began its journey.

Fun on the Way

As we greeted our relatives and settled in for the long journey, there was an air of excitement. Many of us hadn’t seen each other in months, so there was plenty to catch up on. I sat with my cousins, and we eagerly planned to make the most of this train journey. They had brought along board games, and we engaged in an entertaining one.

After a few rounds of the game, it was time for dinner. The food served on the train was surprisingly delectable. Following dinner, I found a cozy spot by the window. Despite the darkness of the night, I enjoyed the rhythmic sounds of the moving train, a novel experience for me.

As everyone finished their meals, we decided to play antakshari . Our relatives enthusiastically joined in, and we sang songs and played antakshari for an hour before it was time to rest.

A Scenic Morning

The next morning, I awoke early and was greeted by a stunning view outside the window. The lush green fields, the rising sun, the distant hills, and the charming huts along the way — everything appeared exceptionally beautiful. This scenic morning view was the highlight of my train journey.

In hindsight, my first train journey was incredibly exciting and fascinating. I cherished every moment of it, and the delightful company of my cousins added an extra layer of enjoyment to the experience.

Long Essay on Journey by Train

Essay on ‘a memorable journey by train’ – essay 4 (500 words).

Introduction

I have gone on many train journeys with my family as well as friends. Travelling by train is comfortable and enjoyable. I always prefer train journeys over road trips for the experience they offer. I have made great memories on these trips. While I have enjoyed all my train journeys, my train travel from Delhi to Goa is the closest to my heart.

Journey from Delhi to Goa

I went for a trip to Goa with my classmates when I was in seventh standard. The trip was planned by the school. After much persuasion, my parents agreed to send me on the trip. Most of my friends also got the consent from their parents. We planned to do a lot of fun things on the trip.

Besides, site-seeing and having fun with friends on the trip, I was also excited about the train journey. The train journey from Delhi to Goa was for around one and a half day. This was the longest journey I had ever gone on. I was really looking forward to it.

My parents dropped me to the station. They were a bit anxious as this was the first time I was travelling so far without them. My mother gave me last minute instructions and I nodded obediently as I eagerly awaited the train. We left from Delhi at around 5 in the evening. I sat by the window with one of my friends by my side.

Travelling with Friends

Travelling with friends is always fun. I had been to Jaipur, Nanital and Shimla with my friends. All these trips were planned by our school. We travelled by train on all these trips and had a lot of fun on the way but none of them involved so much travelling. Most of these were overnight journeys. But on our trip to Goa we spent one night and one and a half day in the train.

I kept sitting by the window for the first two-three hours of the journey. I loved the view outside. As it started getting dark, I joined my friends who were playing dumb charades. We kept playing this game until it was time for dinner. After having our dinner, we chatted until late night. We shared our experiences, narrated interesting stories and mimicked our teachers. It was all great fun. I slept comfortably at night and woke up late.

The breakfast was served almost immediately after I woke up. After having the breakfast, I went and stood by the train door which was half opened. The view outside was beautiful. I love nature and I can watch the trees, hills and the water bodies for hours. It soothes and pleases my senses and offers a delightful experience.

I kept standing there for a long time. One of my friends joined me there. We enjoyed the view and spoke about our love for travelling and nature. During the rest of the day, we played games, had food and chatted with each other. We reached Goa at around 11 at night.

This train journey was an awesome experience. I enjoyed it thoroughly and made several beautiful memories on the way.

My Train Journey Experience

I have been on many train journeys since my childhood. I have gone to Mount Abu, Udaipur, Varanasi, Shimla, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Bombay and many other places with family, friends and relatives. I have travelled to most of these places by train. What I love most about train journeys is the view outside. I love to sit by the window and watch the natural surroundings that come by during the journey. I often take a novel along as I love reading while travelling.

Train journeys become all the more fun when we are travelling in groups. There are so many fun things to do on the way. We crack jokes, sing songs, play games and chit chat for hours during the journey. We also get a chance to meet new people. It feels great when we meet like-minded people on our way. It makes the trip quite enjoyable. There is so much to talk about and share. I have made quite a few friends during my train journeys.

A long journey by train is just an exciting experience. At times, it can be tiring, but we get a lot of pleasure. I remember when I was in Class 8th, I went to Bangalore with my whole family to spend the summer vacation. Flight journeys might take only a few hours, and train journeys are time-consuming, but I love to travel by train with them. We see a lot of vendors coming in to sell tea, ice cream, biscuits, peanuts, etc. Those are the most exciting parts of a train journey when we buy food and share it with everyone. We meet a lot of new people around us and spend some time with them.

A train journey is the most precious thing for me. It is even more exciting when I am travelling with my friends and family. I remember when I was travelling to Mumbai with my whole family for my cousin’s marriage. It was a great experience for me because it was the second time when I was travelling out of my hometown. It was beautiful to watch people crossing the train, which looked like a train and bike competition, and some kids waved their hands to say goodbye. Compared to a flight journey, sitting on the window seat and enjoying nature is so precious. It is even more beautiful to watch the sunset between the hills while enjoying the evening tea. Every time a tea vendor crossed, my mother would call him and buy us some snacks. Even if you are on a diet, it becomes hard for you to restrict yourself to rush to the food stall in every station. If you are bored, you can read a newspaper or a magazine, a story book, etc.

Train journey is the most exciting and most enjoyable experience of my life. I remember when I was travelling to Bangalore with my friends. My friends were the add ons to my excitement. We were seven friends travelling together and we enjoyed the most in those 24 hours. We were the attraction of all the passengers around us as we engaged them all with different games, music, and dance. We bought food and shared it with them. The beauty of nature can be enjoyed while travelling by train and it is more exciting when you are with your friends or family. When the train stops, we would rush to a food stall and eat different foods of our choice and they gave us immense satisfaction. When the vendors cross by us shouting and repeating all the foods, we would just look at each other and order the food without even a second thought. We would have eaten tummy full but still order the food just to satisfy our cravings. After we reached there, my friend’s family waited for us and treated us really well. But we were not so satisfied with those hours. We shared the contact numbers of our fellow passengers and are still in contact with them.

I have travelled many times with my family. I have travelled by flight, by train, etc. But the most exciting one was when I was travelling to Mumbai with my family. The plan to visit Mumbai was made just to have a great time by train. There was no specific reason to travel or visit Mumbai but the train journey is so fascinating for us that we decided to travel by train. We just spent three days in Mumbai and had a great time shopping but we spent 5 days travelling by train. A train journey can never be compared with any other journey or any other excitement. Travelling by flight would just take a few hours and it is the fastest means to travel and saves a lot of time. But at times, we just miss our train journeys, we miss the continuous calls of the stall vendors shouting biryani, chai… garam chai…, bread omelette, etc. When we miss the train journeys, this chorus would just bounce in our ears. The train would pass through the villages, forests, seas, rivers, etc. This makes the train journey so exciting because we meet nature closely.

While travelling from one place to the other by train, we get in contact with different people. We make new friends, the children enjoy the most, and there are a lot of memories. It is so hard to control our cravings while travelling by train. We would rush to a food stall and buy any food, and parents would not even stop us.

Frequently Asked Questions on A Journey by Train Paragraph

Why is a train journey so exciting.

A train journey is so exciting because we get a lot of time to travel and meet many new people around us. People from different places would be sharing food items and many conversations. We can enjoy the beauty of nature very closely.

How do we write a journey by train paragraph?

Train rides, no matter how short or long they are, are something that we all look forward to. Last week, I had the opportunity to travel by train from Howrah to Bandel to meet one of my friends. I had planned to take the 10:30 a.m. train, but when I woke up on the day of the trip was pouring heavily. I had given up hope, but the rain god showed mercy on us, and it stopped raining.

One of my other friends and I managed to board the 11:00 a.m. train. It was not rush hour, so the train was not crowded. I quickly got myself a window seat to enjoy the greenery of Kolkata’s outskirts. The rain had made the weather pleasant, which was a bonus and made our journey more enjoyable. We arrived at our destination after nearly an hour, though I was sad to see it end soon.

Experiencing new things and being able to write those experiences in words is a very important skill that everyone should learn. Below is a train journey essay for class 3, which gives you a brief idea about the topic:

We’ve all travelled by train at some point in our lives. Since India is a developing country with a large middle-class population, train travel is the most convenient and safest option for them. Almost all routes have trains, making it easier for people to get to their destination in one trip.

Pros and Cons Of Train Journey

Train journeys have certain advantages as well as disadvantages such as:

Pros of Train Journey

  • Relaxing journeys : Trains are known for their spaciousness and comfort. We don’t have to sit in an uncomfortable position for the longer duration of the journey, as we would on a bus. We can book an entire berth to ourselves to comfortably sit or even lie down.
  • Beautiful scenery : Train rides on hilly routes have enchanting beauty. Whether a regular train or a toy train, the view of hills all around is sure to captivate everyone.
  • Unlimited luggage : There is a limit to the amount of luggage that can be carried on a plane. Train travel, on the other hand, is not the same.
  • Long journeys : Train journeys are usually preferred over car and bus journeys because they are more comfortable. Furthermore, train travel is ideal for people suffering from motion sickness, as driving or taking a bus is inconvenient.

Cons Of Train Journey

  • Ticketing : Even though bookings open four months before the date of travel, popular destinations’ tickets are always on a waiting list, causing inconvenience. Furthermore, because the majority of the process is now done online, it becomes difficult for people who do not have access to a system.
  • Excess time : If you have an emergency and need to get somewhere quickly, taking the train is not the best option. Train journeys can take up to two days to reach some destinations, making them unsuitable for working professionals.
  • Inadequate sanitisation : Train washrooms appear perfect when the train leaves the boarding station, but as the journey progresses, the condition of the restrooms and basins are quite questionable!

These train journey essays will assist your child in making their content flow. They will be more aware of what to write and how to structure their thoughts in such essays. They will be more aware of their surroundings and interested in everything around them the next time they go on a journey like this.

1. Why are train journeys the best?

Rail travel is both comfortable and exciting for children. If you are travelling to a hill station, they can get a better look at the mountains and hills, making it a memorable experience. Train journeys come under an inexpensive mode of transport also.

2. What makes train journeys so comfortable?

Train rides are very comfortable because we can sit or even lie down comfortably on our berth. Furthermore, it does not feel like being stuck in a chair with no freedom of movement, as in a plane or bus.

3. What precautions should you take while travelling on a train?

Some people have been seen standing near the train’s gate, which is extremely dangerous and should be avoided. One should not smoke inside the train compartment. Now, taking COVID precautions is mandatory in every kind of journey. Check your luggage before boarding and deboarding a train.

Train journeys are amazing in many ways, and kids enjoy them thoroughly. Making kids write an essay on a train journey is a good way to stir them creatively. It will make them well-versed with the nuances of sentence construction also.

Short Essay on ‘A Journey by Train’ – Essay 1 (200 words)

Train journeys are super fun especially while travelling with a group of friends. One of my most memorable journeys by train was my journey from Delhi to Jaipur. It was a school trip and we were all really excited about it. We had numerous plans for the trip and were especially looking forward to have a great time on our way.

We all reached the railway station by 6 in the morning and the train started within few minutes. I occupied the window seat to see the view outside. The view of the green fields, muddy roads and huts on the way was delightful. My best friend sat beside me and we chatted as we looked outside.

Soon, it was time for breakfast. I loved the cutlets and bread served in the train. We also had hot tomato soup after having a plate of bread and cutlets. After the breakfast, we all decided to play antakshari. Playing antakshari in large groups is always fun. Our teachers also joined us thereby adding to the fun. We played antakshari for the rest of the journey and before we even knew we had reached our destination. It was a great experience. The company of my friends made this train journey all the more gleeful.

Essay on ‘A Journey by Train to Shimla’ – Essay 2 (300 words)

Introduction

Shimla is a beautiful hill station but what is even more amazing is the train journey from Kalka to Shimla via the special toy train that runs on this route. The route it takes is just mesmerizing. Trip to Shimla is incomplete if one doesn’t travel by this train. So, we booked our tickets in advance to experience this much talked about train journey as we planned our trip to Shimla.

Journey to Shimla by Toy Train

We went to Shimla last year during the autumn break. We travelled by bus to Kalka and from there we took the toy train to Shimla. I thought it would be like a usual train journey with some mountains and valleys in view but it actually turned out to be super thrilling and exciting. We were amid nature all through our journey. We didn’t just get the view of the mountains, valleys and the greenery around, we felt like being a part of it as the train went through the mountains giving the true feel of the nature.

It was a 5-6 hours journey and I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. The route was full of tunnels and bridges that added to the experience. There were more than 100 tunnels and around 800 bridges on the route. I sat by the window all through the journey to take the outside view.  We also stepped out of the train as it stopped on a station on the way. It was a small station and the train stopped for just about ten minutes.

I was accompanied by my parents and brother. They enjoyed the trip as much as I did. We travelled by the same train on our way back too.

This was indeed the best train journey of my life. I love being amid nature. This is the reason why I enjoyed it all the more. I really wish to go on this route again.

Essay on ‘My First Train Journey’ – Essay 3 (400 words)

I went on my first train journey when I was in 2 nd standard. It was my maternal aunt’s wedding and we had to go to Dehradun to attend the same. As the news broke, there was joy and excitement all around. My mother began deciding the dresses she would wear on the wedding and my father started planning our travel. It was decided that we will be travelling by train with few of our relatives. I was super thrilled about the journey as this was the first time I was travelling by train.

Planning the Train Journey

Train journeys are different from road trips. One needs to plan ahead to ensure a smooth travel. After looking at all the trains running on that route, my parents drilled down to the most suitable and convenient option. The tickets were booked days ahead of the trip. Our bags were packed and all the other necessary arrangements were made for the trip.

It was a night journey. We reached the railway station on time, settled ourselves and the train started within few minutes.

Fun on the Way

We greeted our relatives as we settled ourselves for the long journey ahead. We were meeting many of them after months. So, there was a lot to talk about. I sat with my cousins and we planned to have a lot of fun on the way. They had brought few games. We started playing an interesting board game.

After few rounds of the game, my mother called us for dinner. The dinner served in the train was delicious. After having my dinner, I sat by the window. Since it was night there was nothing much to see outside however I enjoyed sitting in the corner hearing the noise of the running train. It was a different experience for me.

As everyone finished the dinner, we decided to play antakshari. All our relatives joined us to play this fun game. We played antakshari for an hour and then it was time to sleep.

The middle berths were opened and soon everyone dozed off. I woke up early the next morning and was delighted to see the view outside. The green fields, the rising sun, and the range of hills that stood at a distance and the huts that came along the way – everything seemed just beautiful. This was the best part of my train journey.

All in all, my first train journey was super exciting and interesting. I loved every bit of it. The company of my cousins made it all the more fun.

Essay on ‘A Memorable Journey by Train’ – Essay 4 (500 words)

Long Essay on ‘A Journey by Train’ – Essay 5 (600 words)

Train journeys are economical, comfortable and fascinating. It is a complete experience in itself. While travelling by train, I am not eager to reach the destination, I rather enjoy each moment of the journey. I have made many friends during my train journeys and had several new experiences.

Advantages of Journey by Train

Train journeys offer numerous advantages. Some of these advantages are shared below:

  • One of the main advantages of train journey is the comfort and convenience it offers. Unlike cars, buses and aeroplanes, you have the option to lie down and sleep while travelling by train. Overnight journey by train is thus much more convenient compared to that by car or bus. One can sleep comfortably through the night and wake up fresh.
  • There is no restriction on the luggage. One can carry as much luggage as he wants while travelling via train unlike the aeroplanes where a limit is set for the same.
  • Trains have washrooms that make long journeys more convenient.
  • One can study or work comfortably on a laptop during train journey. Thus, the time spent in travelling can be put to productive use.
  • Trains are quite economical as compared to cabs and aeroplanes. One can travel long distance at a nominal cost.

Disadvantages of Journey by Train

While train journeys offer a number of advantages, there are certain disadvantages attached to them too. Here is a look at these disadvantages:

  • One of the biggest disadvantages of travelling by train is that one needs to plan the trip and get the tickets booked days before the journey. This is quite unlike travelling by car or bus wherein one can plan the trip and get going even the next day.
  • Booking the ticket can be quite taxing. People who go to the railway station to book the tickets need to stand in the queue for hours. Booking train tickets online is also quite time consuming as the railway booking site sometimes get quite slow due to increased traffic.
  • Though the trains have washrooms and restrooms, these are not as clean and hygienic as they should be.
  • Trains often get delayed due to different reasons. This can be quite annoying and exhausting.
  • Compared to aeroplanes, travel time taken by trains is much higher. It is not a good option for those who need to reach somewhere urgently.

Train journeys have their set of advantages and disadvantages. While planning ahead, booking tickets and strict train schedules can be a put off; comfortable travel and good utilization of time are some of the advantages it offers. I have been on several train journeys and I really look forward to them.

One of the oddities of the train is that it has its own road that is not shared by any other means of transportation.

Because the passengers were inside the train for long hours, bathrooms were designed inside it, located at the end of the carriage.

Some trains have sleeping quarters, and they are used when the distance traveled by the train is too far.

These trains with sleeping places are called sleep trains.

In order to avoid the trains from colliding with each other, it was necessary to make a rail for the train that goes and another for the opposite train.

There are a large number of trains and multiple types.

There are trains used to transport passengers and trains used to transport goods of all kinds.

The train consists of a powerful engine located in the first car of it and is responsible for pulling the rest of the train. What makes the train fit on the rails is that the wheels are a cavity whose distance is proportional to the rails where the rail goes into the wheel.

The first coal-fired train was ignited under a quantity of water, causing a powerful eruption of steam to move the wheels of the train forward.

These days trains have progressed in an incredible way, which has encouraged people to use them extensively.

A train journey paragraph

The train is one of the most beautiful and popular means of transportation in various countries of the world. When I was a little girl I would stand near the train station and watch this tall, terrifying thing pass by.

I was afraid of it and kept thinking about it all night.

And when it passes early in the morning I wake up quickly shivering. But when I grew up I knew what it was and how it worked. I loved trains of all kinds and decided to go on a train journey.

The train was leaving Cairo and heading to Port Said. We have visited a number of beautiful cities on our way.

On the train we were able to sit comfortably and talk to each other freely.

It was an enjoyable journey and I will repeat it regularly but would choose other places.

a journey by train short paragraph

Last year, the school announced a trip to Luxor and Aswan. They told us it was a long way and it might take a day and a half by the train. We hesitated at first because of the travel and the long distance, but the trip responsible told us that traveling is very interesting.

She described to us the shape of the train from the inside, which will be equipped for long distances and has a small restaurant serving food and hot drinks because we are in the winter.

The train has a cabin like a room with two beds on top of each other for sleeping and relaxing.

We took part in the journey and indeed it was one of the most beautiful trips that we took part in because of the beauty of the train. We enjoyed talking, laughing and exchanging jokes.

We enjoyed eating and looking at the scenery next to the train. In the end we decided that we would travel by train on all our upcoming trips. Even now, when I look at the photos of me and my friends on this trip, I feel very happy.

For young children, especially in the primary stage, a journey  by train is one of the most loved and accepted trips.

I remember when I was in the fifth grade that the school announced a journey  by train that would visit several cities on the way.

I told my mom that I want to go on the trip with my friends. But my mom said I’m young and I should wait a few years. I was determined to go and had my grandfather persuade her.

When my mother asked me why I wanted to go on the trip, I told her because I love the train. Indeed, the journey time came and I went with them and had a lot of fun with my friends.

Easy a journey by train paragraph

Trips are many and varied, some of which are by bus, which is one of the means of transportation that a large number of people do not prefer.

The bus is making some students nauseous, making them tired throughout the journey.

It also causes vomiting, which pollutes the place and makes others feel disgusted.

As for traveling by train, it is one of the best types of travel, especially on trips, where all the students sit close to each other, talk together and laugh nonstop or get bored.

It is one of the means of transportation that does not cause nausea or vomiting, due to the absence of the smell of gasoline.

For these reasons, a large number of students take the train every year.

I am a 6th grader and love to go on trips all the time. I have gone on several types of trips, including to nearby places such as the trip to the zoo and the amusement park.

There are trips far, but not too far, such as visiting the Pyramids of Giza. If you are a tourist and decided to go to Egypt, you should go to visit the Pyramids of Giza in order to enjoy the monuments that dazzled the world, and which we went to last year by bus.

As for the long-distance trips, such as going to visit the city of Alexandria, we went to it by train, as the road took about 4 hours straight.

There are very long trips that may take 24 hours by train, such as going to Luxor and Aswan, which is a long  journey  by train, but it is interesting.

Small a journey by train paragraph

This summer my family and I are going on a journey  by train to Alexandria.

This city is one of the beautiful coastal cities built by Alexander the Great on the shore of the White Sea.

We have heard about the beauty of this city and the beauty of its mild climate all year round.

I’ve never been to Alexandria before, but I’m looking forward to going there by train.

I love the journey  by train because of the spaciousness of the seats and the change of position to any position you prefer.

What I like about a journey  by train is that we sit there without any strings attached and play together and make jokes without worrying about disturbing others.

Everyone sits together with love and happiness as if we are one family.

There are several types of trains, including express trains that stop only in a few stations, and slow trains that stop at all stations.

Everyone has the freedom to choose the train that suits him and the place he is going to.

My first bicycle essay for class 3

My dad bought me the first bike of my life when I was in the third grade. My friends had bikes and I didn’t have one, so my dad said” I’ll buy you a bike if you do well in third grade”. I made an agreement with him and started to implement.

I studied hard all year to get the bike. When the result came out I was nervous, but my grades were excellent. My dream came true and my dad bought me a bike.

I’m riding on it on my way to school to save me time. And when I meet my friends we’ve been racing and cycling for a lot of fun hours. I even go to the club by bike, so as not to be late for training.

On weekends we go for a bike ride. And at the end of the year we would take it with us to the beach and my little sister and I would play with it.
