Homework Planner Template
The best thing I can say about this homework planner is that my own kids like it enough to want me to print a copy for them each week. The design for this planner came from a mash-up of the techniques that my brother and I used in college to organize our time. I've refined the design based on feedback from my kids (one high-schooler and two home-schoolers).
How It Works : This planner combines two very useful tools for keeping track of your homework assignments, both on a single page. First, on the left is a homework check list for each of your classes. Use it to list the assignments, due dates, and the estimated time to complete each assignment. List upcoming exams and plan times to study. Second, on the right side you can plan your week to figure out how you will get everything done.
Printable Homework Planners
The following PDF files can be printed as needed. The main difference is in the weekly schedule because high-schoolers and home-schoolers tend to do their homework at different times of the day.

Description
This spreadsheet includes two separate worksheets with slightly different designs. The Homeschool design doesn't include the "time" column because we found it wasn't as critical to predict how much time a particular assignment would take. However, for high school and college, estimating the time to complete each assignment can be extremely helpful.
We designed it so that you can either print blank copies of the planner, or edit it electronically. You may be able to store and edit this planner on your mobile device if you are using Excel for iPad/iPhone or Google Sheets.
Tips for Students:
1. Customize the template: Using Excel or Word, enter your class names on the left and your typical weekly schedule. For example, use the schedule to highlight the times for each of your classes, your extracurricular activities, part-time jobs, etc.
2. Print blank copies: After customizing the template, you can print as many of these planner pages as you need, and you won't need to enter your typical weekly schedule each time.
3. Don't forget incomplete assignments: When switching to a new page each week, don't forget to go through your list of assignments and transfer the incomplete assignments to the new page.
4. Don't lose it: Keep your planner page in a folder that you always have with you. If you are worried about misplacing it, try taking a picture of it with your phone as a backup.
5. Use a mobile app: If you have a phone with the Excel or Word app or Google Docs app, and you are allowed to use a mobile device in school, you could try going paperless and editing the template on your phone. You could also try using one of the many "student planner" or "homework planner" mobile apps. The problem with this approach is that phones can be a huge distraction. If you are obsessed with Instagram or texting, it may be better to avoid using your phone if you want to get anything done.
Note to Teachers:
You are welcome to print copies of this planner to give to your students. The worksheet is pretty intuitive, but don't assume that students will know how to use it. Teach them about managing their time and help them learn how a planner can help.
One important thing that you can do to help your students is to give them a realistic estimate of how much time each assignment will take. If you get a lot of students complaining that an assignment took longer than you said, either cut back the work (if it was excessive), or use the feedback to give a better estimate next time around.

Printable Weekly Assignment Sheet for Students Post Preview: Use this free printable weekly assignment planner to help students in the classroom or in homeschool to track daily assignments or homework. Sheets are available in both color and black and white.
I have always loved planners and checklists. For me, and so many other people, they’re a great way to stay organized and get things done.
When we homeschooled, the years that I felt that we all had things together the best was when we started using daily and weekly checklists for assignments. Checklists helped me when I was planning and it helped the kids stay organized and know what to expect.
To help you and your children or students stay more organized this school year, I have a new set of printable weekly assignment sheets available in both color and black and white.
Note: The printable assignment sheet set is available farther down in the post.

Printable Weekly Assignment Sheet for Students
This weekly assignment sheet set contains two options and both come in the set.
There is an option that is in black and white, which can save on printer ink. If you use this option, your children or students could even use some light-colored markers or highlighters to color in the boxes with the subject name in them. Of course, they could also just leave them as is.
The other option is in color (just in the headings of each section) and uses colors inspired by the very popular Zebra Mildliner Highlighters . This is a very visually appealing option, especially if you have access to a color printer. (Here is a newer version of the color printer I have and love .)
Side note on these highlighters: Both my husband and daughter have been using these and are raving about them!
Which Subjects are Included on the Printable Weekly Assignment Sheet?
The weekly assignment planner has sections for the following subjects:
- Reading Log
- Social Studies
- Other (you could fill in religion, foreign language, or any other subject or task; if you write small enough, you might be able to put multiple things on the same line)
More about the Reading Log
The reading log section is different than the other sections of the weekly assignment sheet. It has a spot to write down the title of the book that the student is reading, the day, the amount of time to spend reading, and either how many pages to read or specifically which pages to read.
If you’d like an additional reading log, you might like these:

Ways to Use the Weekly Assignment Sheet Set
While I’m sure you creative people out there can probably figure out more ways to use the weekly assignment planner sheets, I have two suggestions for ways to use them.
1. Use it for Writing All Assignments
In a homeschool setting, you could write out the week’s plans for your child and give them the sheet all filled in at the beginning of the week. They can then check off items as they finish them all week. This was the method I used in our homeschool, especially as my children got older.
If you want to do this same idea in a classroom setting, you might give your students the blank form and then tell them what to write in for each day or have it on a whiteboard for them to copy down.
2. Use it Exclusively for Homework
Students could use the weekly assignment sheet to write down all of their homework throughout the week. In this method, students would only write down their homework in each section, not every assignment.

Printable Homework Planners to Help Students Get Organized
This post may contain affiliate links. Please read my disclosure for more info.
If you’re a parent, you know how incredibly overwhelming it can be for students to stay on top of studying and all other homework assignments.
Especially when they’re juggling multiple classes.
Due dates can pile up quickly if they aren’t staying organized and managing their time wisely.
However, there is a tool that can be quite helpful – A printable homework planner! You’ll find a few different styles below.
Weekly homework planners
These free printables will help students plan and track all their assignments for each day of the week.
They can write down the class, a description of the homework assignment, and when it’s due. Once it’s completed it, check “done” and move on to the next!
I recommend printing a few copies at a time. Encourage your middle schooler or high schooler to keep one in their binder.
Monthly homework calendars
In addition to weekly planners , older students may benefit from a blank homework calendar as well.
It’s nice to have a bird’s-eye view of each month.
Some of these templates have extra lines below the calendar for writing down reminders and other misc. notes.
Monthly assignment and exam trackers
Some students may prefer a simple running list of what’s due each month.
With these trackers, they can write down the class, jot down a quick description of what’s due (whether it’s a basic assignment, project, or exam), and the due date.
And, of course, once the assignment is finished, they can mark done.

Looking for a simple and free student planner? This free printable weekly kids planner can be customized, whether it’s to write down a weekly schedule, homework, or classroom assignments. It’s perfect for planning virtual, homeschool, or in-person learning!

When life threw everyone a curveball last spring and schools shut down, we were flustered but I felt an incredible need to organize as much as I could (especially with everything else totally outside of my control.) My daughter is the same way, she loves a good checklist and thrives on following schedules. While the teachers were trying as hard as they could, we knew we needed a way to keep track of what was due, and when.
That’s when I created this printable student weekly planner to organize assignments. It can also be used to write down that week’s schedule, homework, and even habit tracking. It really came in handy to organize everything during a stressful time!
It’s great for all ages– for younger kids, you can draw icons to represent what you’re doing when. Older kids can fill it in themselves. Heck, it’s versatile enough that awesome adults like you can use it to plan meals, write down virtual learning schedules, or plan your homeschooling lessons!
(I even added a chore block to my kids’ schedule… they’re pitching in around the house and writing down one big chore a day was helpful for all of us.)
Get organized in style!

How to Download the Free Printable Student Planner
How to Use the Free Printable Student Planner
- Download it to your computer and print (see instructions above.)
- Fill out the far left column with time blocks or subject areas, depending on how you’re using the planner. Writing in time blocks creates a ‘block schedule’ that shows what is happening at that time each day, and writing subject areas allows for writing down the assignments or lessons for that subject each day.
- I recommend clipping to a clipboard or protecting with a clear plastic dry erase pocket . You can then hang it on the wall using Command Strip Hooks . Another idea is to three hole punch it or place in a page protector and add it to a binder.
I hope this helps you and your family adapt to the ever changing school situation! Whether you homeschool, virtual school or go in person my goal is to make it as easy and stress free as possible with simple ideas to add systems and routines into your home life.
If you enjoyed this post, it would mean the world if you would share it!

Weekly assignment sheets are a great way to help our children ( and even us ) to stay on track and organized with homeschool assignments, daily life and activities. There are so many ways that you can use a homeschool planner, but I prefer simple, and something that doesn’t take up a lot of time to use. I really like things that I can just print off and fill in, that I don’t have to exert a lot of energy to create.
Mom Delights has done all of the hard work for you, and has created these simple assignment sheets that will go perfectly in a binder. These are great for a homeschool portfolio as well. I like that there are three different sheets, which will work for younger children, older children and teens. She even shows examples of how to use these. There is room for basic assignments, and blank lines to keep track of narration and dictation quotes. There is even a section for chores! Click on over here to grab these awesome assignment sheets .

July 27, 2018 By Katie 3 Comments
Back to school brings mixed emotions in my home. For the kids, of course, it’s mostly sadness that the hazy lazy days of a hot summer have come and gone. It’s back to school and “too much homework” as they always say. For myself, as a Mom of a growing brood, there are the pros: first day of school signs and pictures, cute back to school clothes, quieter and more productive days, etc. But with the start of school, there is also the realization that I only get so many fun summers with my little ones before they want to hang out with their friends more than Mom. 😪 I also know that those clothes and supplies can cost a small fortune and with school comes endless homework, extracurricular activities, and the endless stream of paperwork and dates and times to remember for each child. Yep, definitely a mixed bag!
Of all the mixed emotions there is a constant that always seems to be a source of frustration in our home: homework. When it comes to homework I’m very, very comfortably between the tiger moms and the free-rangers, who respectively are strict disciplinarians who want sky-high academic results at all times and parents content to let their kids learn by doing and being independent as possible.
I’m not saying any of the either of the above approaches are more correct than the other, to each their own and every child needs to be parented in the way that suits them best. But I’m definitely not going to lose it if my kids miss a day of homework. Neither am I going to let them just play every day. Balance in all things is my philosophy. I’d assume most Moms rest in this cozy middle area with me. 🙂
In order to find the balance between too much and too little homework, I’ve spent some time creating homework charts, checklists, and planners for a variety of situations. ( I’ll be adding more and more over time so check back if you don’t see the one you want. Or leave a comment and I might be able to squeeze in some time to create new ones based off reader feedback.). You may also like these printable first day of school signs and bedtime routine charts too. #justsayin.
I hope one of the ones below, whether you use rewards or eschew them, works for your family and each specific child no matter what parenting style you use in your home! Just click on the text links below each preview image to download your PDF and then print your preferred hw chart for your home.
WEEKLY HOMEWORK CHARTS
Below are a variety of weekly homework charts and planners. While they vary a little bit most of them allow some combination of assignments or class, days of the week, dates, due dates, daily reading tracking, and some form of completion in the form of a checkbox or otherwise. I hope these weekly homework planners make life easier this year!

HOMEWORK REWARD CHARTS
The charts below are set up for monthly tracking BUT just because they are monthly homework charts doesn’t mean you can’t set rewards at the daily or weekly level. I’ve always found it to be more effective when I tailor the rewards to each child and subject. Sometimes they need a reward on a daily basis (really struggling to form a good habit), sometimes on a weekly basis and sometimes the reward is such that they better do their homework for an entire month if I’m holding up my end of the bargain! So, whether you use these as a homework sticker chart or simply use checkmarks or something else entirely, hopefully, you’ll find a method that will work for your child! Even better if we can inspire them to love learning and the reward chart becomes a temporary aid to unlock a lifetime of learning!
