The wedding will be held at Mississauga Grand Banquet & Event Centre, 35 Brunel Rd, Mississauga, ON L4Z 3E8, Canada. I intend to visit different attractions such as Dundas Square, Kensington Market, and the CN Tower in the Greater Toronto Area during my stay. I have no intention of venturing outside this region.

Health and Vaccination Details

I am also in good health and have remained free from major health issues in my life. I have received two COVID-19 vaccinations to date. These are:

Similarly, a purpose-of-travel Canada tourist visa sample letter would need to include additional details about each city you will visit and where you will stay. So, it would help if you mentioned hotels , hostels , or Airbnb rentals you will reside at.

Canada Cover Letter Format And Free Samples (2023)

Canada Cover Letter

In Canada, a well-written cover letter can be just as important as a strong resume when it comes to landing your dream job.

While cover letters may seem daunting, they are an essential component of the job application process. A well-crafted cover letter can set you apart from other applicants and demonstrate your professionalism, attention to detail, and passion for the position.

In this article, we’ll provide tips and guidelines to help you create a compelling Canada cover letter that will impress employers and increase your chances of landing an interview.

Canada Cover Letter Font

6. signature, researching the company, proofreading and editing, cover letter sample 3 (fresher), canada cover letter basics.

A cover letter is a document that introduces you to potential employers and highlights your qualifications, skills, and experience. It is your chance to make a great first impression and convince hiring managers that you are the right person for the job.

Canada Cover Letter Format

In Canada, a cover letter should follow a standard format that includes your contact information, the date, and the recipient’s contact information. Begin with your name, address, and contact details, followed by the date and the recipient’s name, and address. Use a clear and organized layout to ensure your cover letter is easily readable.

Canada Cover Letter Length

A Canadian cover letter should be concise and limited to one page in length . This allows you to effectively showcase your qualifications and experiences without overwhelming the reader.

It is crucial to choose a professional-looking font for your cover letter. Common font choices include Times New Roman, Arial, or Calibri. Be consistent with your font selection throughout the cover letter to maintain a polished appearance.

When it comes to font size, aim for a balance between readability and space efficiency. A font size of 10 to 12 points is generally considered appropriate in a Canadian cover letter. This ensures the text is large enough to be easily readable, but not too large that it takes up excessive space on the page.

Canada Cover Letter Structure

The structure of a Canadian cover letter typically consists of an introduction, body, and conclusion .

  • In the introduction , you should introduce yourself and express your interest in the position.
  • In the body , focus on your qualifications, relevant skills, and experiences that make you a valuable candidate for the job.
  • Conclude by thanking the reader for their time and consideration.

Canadian cover letters typically begin with a header containing the applicant’s name, job title, city and province, phone number, and email address.

It’s also essential to include the current date . The header should be consistent with the one used in the applicant’s resume for a cohesive presentation.

2. Greeting

In the greeting section, address the hiring manager by their full name and title. If the name is not available, use a generic salutation such as “Dear Hiring Manager” or “To Whom It May Concern.”

Personalization is preferred, so make an effort to find the hiring manager’s name when possible.

The opening paragraph serves as an introduction and an opportunity to grab the hiring manager’s attention. Applicants should briefly mention the job title and company they’re applying to, and express enthusiasm for both the position and the organization.

Including keywords from the job posting and aligning personal skills with the employer’s requirements will make the opening more impactful.

In the body of the cover letter, applicants should elaborate on their relevant skills, experiences, and achievements. It’s necessary to make connections between the job requirements and the applicant’s qualifications.

  • When discussing experiences, be specific and focus on accomplishments rather than just listing responsibilities.
  • Use bullet points or short paragraphs to present the information in a clear and easy-to-read manner.

The body of the letter should effectively convey the applicant’s background and qualifications while demonstrating a genuine interest in the role and the company.

The closing section is the final opportunity to leave a positive impression on the hiring manager. Here, applicants should reiterate their enthusiasm for the position and summarize their qualifications .

It’s also appropriate to politely request an interview and express gratitude for the manager’s time and consideration. End the closing paragraph with a professional and respectful closing such as “Sincerely” or “Best Regards.”

Lastly, include a signature in the cover letter which may consist of the applicant’s full name and any relevant professional designation or certification.

If the cover letter is being sent electronically, either type the full name or use an electronic/digital signature as a more personal touch.

Customizing Your Cover Letter

Tailoring to the job.

When customizing your cover letter, it is essential to tailor it to the specific job you are applying for. Start by carefully reviewing the job description and noting the key requirements, responsibilities, and qualifications mentioned.

Then, in your cover letter, emphasize how your skills and experiences align with these aspects of the job. In doing so, be sure to use relevant keywords and phrases from the job description to demonstrate your understanding of the role.

Split your text into concise paragraphs that focus on different aspects of the job, such as your relevant experience, technical skills, and soft skills. You may also consider using bullet points to highlight specific achievements that directly relate to the position.

In addition to tailoring your cover letter to the job, you should also research the company and demonstrate how your values and goals align with theirs . This shows that you have taken the time to understand the organization’s culture and objectives and that you would be a good fit for the team.

You can find information about a company’s values and goals on its website or through news articles, press releases, and social media accounts.

Remember, customizing your cover letter for each position you apply to and researching the company can make a significant difference in making a positive first impression on a recruiter or hiring manager. By focusing on these aspects, you demonstrate your attention to detail and genuine interest in the job and company, improving your chances of landing an interview.

Writing Tips for a Canadian Cover Letter

Highlighting achievements.

When crafting a Canadian cover letter, it is essential to focus on the tangible accomplishments in your career. Mention specific achievements  that demonstrate your capabilities and experiences relevant to the job you are applying for.

Include quantifiable results, such as increased sales or improved customer satisfaction, to clearly showcase your successes. Use active verbs and concise language to communicate your achievements in a compelling manner.

Focusing on Skills and Qualifications

Employers want to see that you have the necessary skills and qualifications to succeed in the role. Align your skills with the requirements listed in the job description , and provide examples of how you have applied these skills in previous positions. Include both technical and transferable skills that will make you an asset to the company.

Providing specific examples can help create a strong connection between you and the organization, increasing your chances of being invited for an interview.

In addition, mention any relevant education or certifications that demonstrate your qualifications for the position.

Emphasizing Value

An effective cover letter should articulate the  value  you would bring to the company. Explain how your skills, achievements, and experiences will contribute to their success.

Relate your accomplishments to the goals and objectives of the company, and demonstrate your understanding of their priorities and challenges. By doing this, you will show potential employers that you can make a positive impact on their organization.

As a final step before submitting your cover letter, make sure to proofread and edit your work thoroughly. This includes checking for proper grammar, spelling, and formatting.

Ensure that your cover letter is one page long, left-aligned with single spacing , and has one-inch margins .

Use a professional font, such as Arial or Helvetica, at a size between 10 and 12 points. Double-check your work to eliminate any errors, as these may create a negative impression on potential employers.

With a well-written cover letter, applicants can confidently present themselves as an attractive candidate, ultimately improving their chances of career success.

Subject: Cover Letter for Canada Tourist Visa Application

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am Swarupa Kumari (Passport No XXXXX) and I am writing this letter to support my visa application for Canada Tourist Visa. I plan to visit the country from DD.MM.YYYY to DD.MM.YYYY. My purpose of the visit is for personal pleasure and the nature of the visit is hence personal.

Travel Plan for 1 week

I plan to stay in Canada for a period of 1 week. This includes the day that I arrive at “Name of airport” till the day I board my flight to Chennai. Besides visiting my friends in Toronto, I have prepared a clear cut travel itinerary for myself to explore the natural and popular tourist attractions boasted by Canada.

  • Day 1 (date) – Arrival at “Name of airport”, flight number, “time of arrival”. I plan to head directly to hotel “name of hotel”
  • Day 2 (date) – I will meet my friend, Akansha at “name of place” and explore the beautiful landscapes and natural beauty
  • Day 3 (date) – Travel to “name of place”. Check in at “name of hotel”
  • Day 4 (date) – Sightseeing at “name of place”
  • Day 5 (date) – Attend the “name of festival, event, carnival”
  • Day 6 (date) – Shopping for family at “name of place”
  • Day 7 (date) – Meet Akansha at “name of place” and board the flight (flight number) to Chennai scheduled at “time of departure”

Personal Information

I was born on DD.MM.YYYY in Chennai, India. I hold an Indian passport (passport number) and I am a proud citizen of India. I was raised by “name of father, who is a retired university professor and my mother, “name of mother” who is a homemaker. I am the single daughter in my loving and supporting family who relies highly on me for their sustenance.

With their blessings and inspiration, I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Engineering from Madras Christian College. My serious academic track record from schooling impressed various hiring managers, helping me land 3 placement offers by the time I graduated. I chose to work with Infosys as a Software Engineer for the first three years of my career. At present, I am working with a start-up called Finfuse where I am managing a team of 5 software engineers. I draw a handsome salary of Rs XXXXX per annum.

Details of close friends in Canada

I do not have any relatives or distant family members living in Canada. However, I aim to visit my former classmate from college, Akansha Nair, during my visit to Canada. We have been in close contact since the first day of college and I am excited to meet her after 2 long years of living in the country. She is currently staying at “address” and is working with “name of company” as a Senior Software Engineer. She can be reached at (phone number) for any further clarifications.

Details of Previous Travel

I have previously travelled to Germany and France in YYYY to meet the Infosys team stationed there. The nature of the visit was strictly to attend meetings and set up the infrastructure to get started with our project.

Incentive to return home

I am not planning to extend my stay beyond the above mentioned timeline of 1 week. This is because I have various commitments to attend to back in India. I have been granted leave only for a week this winter and I plan to join back by DD.MM.YYYY. Apart from that, I have arranged for a helper to ease my parents of the household chores for one week. However, it is only a temporary solution and I am needed back at home. Besides giving all the love and support they can get in their old age, I am responsible for taking them to their doctors’ appointments that are scheduled on DD.MM.YYYY and DD.MM.YYYY respectively.

Apart from that, I am well adjusted and love the culture I have been brought up with. I only want to visit Canada for sightseeing and thus, I have booked the flight on DD.MM.YYYY to return back to my permanent home.

Explanation of Financial Sufficiency

I am humbled to say that I am sponsoring my tour in Canada. My 5+ year long career and my calculated spending pattern helped me save enough to fund this 1 week long trip. I am hereby attaching my bank statements, salary slips as well as offer letters to corroborate the same.

I hereby promise that I have no intentions in prolonging my stay more than a week in Canada. I am well aware and cognizant of the immigration regulations set for international tourists and I intend to abide by them.

I hope that I have been able to furnish all the details pertaining to my tourist visa application. I am looking forward to hearing a positive response and being able to visit Canada.

Yours Sincerely,

Swarupa Kumari

Letter of invitation

Sometimes, when you apply for a visa to visit Canada, we ask you to give us a letter of invitation from someone in Canada.

A letter of invitation does not guarantee that we will issue a visa. Visa officers assess you to decide whether you meet the terms of Canada's immigration law.

Information for the person writing the letter of invitation

Writing a letter of invitation does not mean you are legally responsible for the visitor once he or she gets to Canada. You should still write the letter in good faith. You must tell the truth and plan to keep the promises you make in the letter.

Send your letter (notarized, if the visa office asks for that) to the person you are inviting to Canada. The person must then send this letter to the Canadian embassy or consulate outside of Canada when he or she applies for a temporary resident visa.

You must include this information about the person you are inviting :

  • complete name,
  • date of birth,
  • address and telephone number,
  • your relationship to the person,
  • the purpose of the trip,
  • how long the person plans to stay in Canada,
  • where the person will stay, and how he or she will pay for things, and
  • when the person plans to leave Canada.

You must include this information about yourself :

  • address and telephone number in Canada,
  • whether you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident,
  • a Canadian birth certificate, if you were born in Canada,
  • a Canadian citizenship card, if you are a naturalized citizen, or
  • a copy of your PR card or your IMM 1000 proof of landing, if you are a permanent resident,
  • details of your family, such as names and dates of birth of your spouse and dependants (this is mandatory for the parent and grandparent super visa ), and
  • the total number of people living in your household, including people you sponsored whose sponsorship is still in effect (this is mandatory for the parent and grandparent super visa ).

For the parent and grandparent super visa only , you must also provide:

  • a written and signed promise of your financial support for your parents or grandparents for their entire stay in Canada, and
  • proof that your income meets or is above the low-income cut-off (LICO) for the total number of people, including the visiting parents or grandparents.

This information is only a guide. You must write the letter of invitation yourself. Some visa offices may ask that a notary public notarize your letter.

Before you arrive

Thank you for your help.

Hi Bryanna and others, I have applied for TRV through the paper application in Jan and Mar and got refused both times for below reasons:- Visa office: Riyadh Current situation of employment ( I am working in same company since 2013 ) Purpose of visit - ( Tourism, Vacation ) Immigration status in country of residence - ( Living with family in Saudi Arabia since born ) Personal asset and financial status - ( Bank Statment for last 6 months was provided with 30000CAD ) My Info : Marital Status - Unmarried Gender - Male Age - 24 Nationality -Pakistani Travel History and Valid Visas - United Kingdom - 2 years UK visa. Previous Refusals - France - 4 , USA - 2 ,Canada - 2 Now I am planning to apply for the third time as my annual vacation is coming soon and would to travel to Canada with my friend who already holds one year multiple TRV issued from Riyadh office. My friend helped me by preparing a cover letter, please check if it's correct or needs editing. also share the list of required documents for the applicants from Saudi Arabia. Application for a Canadian Tourist Visa To; The Honorable Consul Dear Sir /Madam, I, XXXXX, XXXXX Passport No. XXXXX would like to travel to Toronto and Montreal as tourist from 15/08/2017 to 28/08/2017 and therefore like to obtain a Canadian tourist visa. I am working as Sales Representative in XXXX XXXX XXX located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia since December 2013 with monthly salary XXXX SR. Below is the break through itinerary for my trip and what I intend to pursue. August 15, 2017 – Flight from Jeddah to Toronto. August 15 - 20, 2017 – Staying and sightseeing in Toronto. Hi, First, I recommend that you reapply next year after you establish stronger ties to KSA and Pakistan. Unfortunately, you have a history of several visa refusals for three countries. Not sure why you applied four times to France and you were refused each time. It's relatively easier to get a Schengen visa for France as compared to some of the other Schengen countries. 1. Purpose of Visit: Your application would have been much stronger if you had immediate family in Canada who are inviting you. Also, in your case, you need to draw up a detailed day-by-day itinerary of tourist places with detailed expenses instead of just broad dates for each city. 2. Immigration Status: Your Iqama must be translated into English by a certified translator + any other proofs of your immigration status in KSA 3. Personal Assets and Financial Status: Is the money in your bank account earned by you or was some of it borrowed for the TRV? You must prove your bank balance and/or financial investments matches your income. 1. Do you have any assets in Pakistan? 2. It's not advisable to buy plane tickets or to make confirmed hotel bookings until visas are issued. 3. Your employment is your only strong tie. However, as a sales rep, it is not a very strong tie because someone else can handle your work responsibilities when you're away

Hi @Bryanna Hope you are well. I actually wanted to ask you regarding my application's refusal. I applied on June 8th through VAC Lahore and got a refusal message today on my GCKey account. It says the following; In making a decision on an application, a number of factors are considered. These may include but are not limited to: • the information in the travel and identity documents; • the reason for the travel to Canada; • the person’s contacts in Canada; • the person’s ties to his or her country of residence (including immigration status, employment and family ties); • the person’s ability to pay for the trip and to support himself or herself while in Canada; • whether the person is likely to respect the conditions of his or her admission to Canada; • whether the person is inadmissible to Canada; and • whether the person would be likely to leave Canada at the end of his/her authorized stay. I submitted mine and my husband's application together but did not attach a cover letter with the application I submitted (neither did anyone at VAC Lahore guided me to submit that). I submitted following documents with original proofs, please guide me what more can I submit to get my application accepted? 1) IMM5257E - Application Form (both mine and husband's) 2) IMM5484E - Document Checklist 3) IMM5645E - Family Info 4) (i) My employment letter stating that I have 12 leaves approved and I am employed at my current org since last 8 years. (ii) My husband works with my in the same organization since last 1 year so he submitted a similar employment letter with his tenure and leaves approved for the similar period. 5) Our marriage certificate which is a proof that we got married earlier this year. 6) Original Passports 7) My Bank Statement from last 3 months (we used my bank statements as I am the one who will take care of the expenses, statement was for $15,600 to be used for 12 days) 8) Last six months payslips which showed I have this fix income and its my money. 9) Booking confirmation receipt at a hotel in Mississauga. Can you please guide me what else can I now add to prove my case stronger, also should I apply online now or go through VAC again? How can I prove stronger ties in my home country?

I have been refused by France consulate for below reasons. September - 2016 - You have not provided proof of sufficient means of subsistence for the duration of the intended stay or for the return to the country of origin or residence, or for the transit to a third country into which you are certain to be admitted, or you are not in a position to acquire such means lawfully. October- 2016 - Your intention to leave the territory of the member states before the expiry of the visa could not be ascertained. December- 2016 - Your intention to leave the territory of the member states before the expiry of the visa could not be ascertained. July- 2017- Your intention to leave the territory of the member states before the expiry of the visa could not be ascertained. Click to expand...

Bryanna said: France had repeated concerns that you were a potential overstayer + you did not have the financial means to pay for your visit. Why did the US refuse you? And when? Not sure how you were able to get a 2-years UK Visitor Visa especially if it was your first UK visitor visa application + what evidence you had provided to show that you will need to visit the UK regularly. Your new TRV application would seem like you're desperate to move out of KSA as you had applied to France four times.... and then Canada two times.... and now again to Canada.... all in a short time span of less than one year. Visiting Canada to accompany your friend on a holiday is not a strong purpose of visit especially when you don't have a history of regularly holidaying abroad + your visa refusal history. This would only prove that you have other family in KSA. If, however, your mother and brothers are employed and/or married then these are not strong family ties to return to. Are you from a Pakistan province which has seen a number of people applying for asylum in other countries? My advice: Do not reapply for a Canada TRV until you have established stronger employment + family ties + immovable assets + travel history Click to expand...
France - September - 2016 - Refused France - October - 2016- Refused UK 6 Months - November 2016 - Granted France - December - 2016- Refused Canada - January - 2017- Refused USA B1/B2 - 3 February - 2017- Refused 214B USA B1/B2 - 14 February - 2017- Refused 214B Canada - March - 2017- Refused UK 2 Years - June - 2017 - Granted France - June - 2017- Refused Click to expand...

Bryanna said: Hi, 1. Which boxes were checked for refusal reasons? 2. What was the purpose of your visit and for how long? 3. Have you traveled previously to other countries that require visas (the US/UK/Schengen/Australia)? 4. Do you own property/land? Do you have dependent family? Strong financials? Cheers Click to expand...
Agardezi said: 1 Following boxes were checked for refusal; - You have not satisfied me that you would leave Canada at the end of your stay as a temporary resident. In reaching this decision, I considered several factors, including: - travel history - Family ties in Canada and in country of residence - Purpose of visit - I am not satisfied that you have sufficient funds, including income or assets, to carry out your stated purpose in going to Canada or to maintain yourself while in Canada and to effect your departure. 2 The purpose was for tourism (honeymoon) and it was for 12 days only. 3 I have only traveled to Dubai with my husband earlier this year in March for 9 days. 4 I just have one land on my name and its not that big/valuable. What documents are required to prove dependent family members? Click to expand...
Bryanna said: Travel History refusal reason : Dubai is extremely liberal in issuing visas. Travel to Dubai doesn't count as travel history. IRCC would like to see if you and your husband were granted visas for countries like the US, UK, Schengen, Australia, etc.... and if you had visited any of these countries for short visits. Family ties in Canada and in Pakistan : Your strongest family tie is your husband (after your marriage). As both you and your husband intend to travel together, your family ties to Pakistan would become weak. If, for example, you had dependent family such as minor children who were not accompanying you then they would count as family ties. Purpose of visit refusal reason : The visa officer would question why you and your husband want to honeymoon in Canada instead of a country closer to Pakistan. For example, Europe or an Asian country. Wanting to visit for a honeymoon is not a strong purpose of visit. Inadequate finances : Was any of the money in your bank account borrowed from someone? Does your husband have some finances of his own? Click to expand...
