CSIR SRF 2022: Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) invites applications for the Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) every year in the month of July. Aspirants can apply for the CSIR Senior Research Fellowship online by visiting the official website, i.e. csirhrdg.res.in. Apart from filling out the online application form, candidates should forward a hard copy of the same to CSIR through the supervisor and HOD.

Candidates completing at least four years of graduation degree with relevant post-graduation research experience are eligible to apply for the CSIR Senior Research Fellowship. The typical tenure of a Senior Research fellow is for two years. Fellows also get a monthly stipend. CSIR Senior Research Fellowship (CSIR-SRF) – Eligibility Criteria

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research prescribes the eligibility criteria for CSIR SRF. Aspirants must satisfy the eligibility criteria before proceeding to submit the application form. CSIR will reject the candidature of all ineligible applicants. The space below mentions the eligibility criteria for CSIR Senior Research Fellowship.

Candidates must satisfy any of the following conditions. 

– MSc/B.Tech./B.E. or equivalent degree with a minimum of 55% and a publication in SCI Journal. Additionally, candidates must have at least two years of post-degree research experience.

– M.E./ M.Tech or an equivalent degree in Technology/ Engineering obtaining a minimum of 60% marks

– B.Tech./ B.E. or equivalent degree with a minimum of 60% marks along with two years of research experience as of the last date of application form submission

– M.B.B.S./B.D.S. or an equivalent degree with a minimum of 60% marks and a one-year internship

– B.Pharm/B.Sc. (Ag)/ B.VSc or an equivalent degree obtaining 55% marks and a publication in an SCI Journal. Additionally, candidates must complete a minimum of three years of research experience.

– M.VSc/ M.Pharma/MSc. (Ag) or equivalent degree with a minimum of 55% marks and one publication in SCI Journal and should have at least one year of research experience.

Apart from the above mentioned educational qualification, candidates must meet the following age criteria.

How to Apply for CSIR Senior Research Fellowship?

Candidates need to apply online for the CSIR Senior Research Fellowship. The application process for CSIR SRF is available for a stipulated schedule. The steps mentioned below will help in filling out the application form for the CSIR Senior Research Fellowship. 

1st Step – Visit the official website of CSIR-HRDG, that is, csirhrdg.res.in  

2nd Step – Browse the official website to find the notification to apply online for CSIR SRF

3rd Step – Enter all the details, including personal information, academic information, professional information, etc.

4th Step – Upload all the documents to support the claims in the application form

5th Step – Review all the details before and hit the ‘Submit’ button 

6th Step – Print the confirmation page and send the same along with the copies of the supporting documents through the supervisor and HOD of the CSIR lab to the following address.

CSIR Senior Research Fellowship (CSIR-SRF) – Documents Required

Candidates need to submit specific documents along with the CSIR SRF application form. Failing to send the documents along with the hard copy of the application form will lead to the rejection of the candidature. The list of documents required is as follows.

– A comprehensive description of proposed research topics in not more than 1,000 words – Self-attested copies of 

  • School leaving certificate
  • Mark sheets
  • Proof of PhD registration
  • NET details
  • GATE details

– Documents supporting the research experience after the completion of the degree course – Copies of accepted publications/ published research papers – Testimonials from the supervisor and PhD guide – Undertaking stating the resignation if the candidate is employed

Note: Hard copy of the application form must be attested by the proposed Supervisor and the Head of the Department/ Institute.

CSIR Senior Research Fellowship (CSIR-SRF) – Selection Criteria

Best applications will be considered for the further rounds of the selection process. CSIR will shortlist the candidates for the interview. During the interview process, a discipline-wise high-level expert committee at CSIR assesses academic record and the project work. Fulfilling the eligibility criteria does not guarantee to award the fellowship. The candidates are only called for the interview if the selection committee finds them suitable for the fellowship.

Candidates are called for the interview after shortlisting based on their qualifications and the number of fellowships available for a particular discipline. Selected candidates will get an offer letter/ award letter. The validity of the offer letter is six months; candidates need to accept the offer within the offer period. 

CSIR Senior Research Fellowship (CSIR-SRF) – Benefits

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research offers senior research fellowship benefits including a monthly stipend as well as grants. Candidates enrolling in the Senior Research Fellowship of CSIR get the following benefits/ awards.

– Candidates will get Rs. 35,000 per month for the entire tenure of the fellowship

– Rs. 20,000 as contingency grant per fellow*

– Senior Research Fellows will get the medical facility as per State/ Central Government medical norms

– Candidates will get a lump sum amount of Rs. 3,000 additional to the above award when the candidate submits a PhD thesis

*Note: For a fellowship of less than one year, the contingency grant will be provided on a pro-rata basis

CSIR Senior Research Fellowship (CSIR-SRF) – Terms and Conditions

Candidates need to abide by the following terms and conditions to get the CSIR Senior Research Fellowship (CSIR-SRF).

– Aspirants of CSIR – SRF can apply under one subject code only.

– Candidates whose application specifies an irrelevant code to the proposed topic of research may lead to rejection the candidates.

– Application form must be filled out online; also, a hard copy must be sent to the requisite address.

– Candidates must produce original documents along with the application form.

– The application process for CSIR SRF is of cost.

– Preference will be given to a subject/topic of research pertinent to the research programs of CSIR laboratories and nationally important Science and Technology areas.

– CSIR its discretion has the authority to call or reject a candidate for the personal interaction round.

– The award letter/ offer letter will be valid for a period o six months only, after the specified period the selection of the candidate for the Senior Research Fellowship stands cancelled.

– The Institute/ University will have to submit the consolidated Utilization Certificate and Statement of Expenditure at the end of the financial year without a fail.

– In case any of the fellows decide to appear for a competitive examination, he/she must seek permission from the guide and inform CSIR about the same.

– During the Fellowship tenure, the fellow shall only correspond with CSIR through the Guide after the approval of the Head of the Institution.

– Male fellows under the CSIR SRF scheme having less than two surviving children shall be entitled to 15 days of paternity leave during the confinement of their wife.

– Female fellows having less than two surviving children shall be entitled to maternity leave with a stipend plus HRA for a period not exceeding 180 days.

– Senior Research Fellows are expected to settle their claims within one year of leaving the Fellowship. No claims after that will be entertained.

– Senior research fellows are exempted from payment of income tax under 10 (16) of the Income Tax Act.

– CSIR has the right to amend any of the conditions mentioned at any time without any intimation.

Q.1: Is there any age limit for CSIR Senior Research Fellowship (CSIR – SRF)? Ans: Candidates belonging to the unreserved category must not exceed the age of 32 years. SC/ST/PH category and female candidates have a relaxation of five years (37 years). In contrast, OBC – Non-Creamy Layer category candidates are entitled to a relaxation of three years in the upper age limit (35 Years).

Q.2: – What do the benefits of CSIR Senior Research Fellowship include? Ans: Fellows enrolled under the CSIR SRF will get a monthly stipend of Rs. 35,000 plus HRA. Selected candidates are also eligible for the medical benefits as per the state/ central government norms—Additionally, a grant of Rs. 20,000 per fellow is awarded by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research.

Q.3: What is the tenure of CSIR Senior Research Fellowship? Ans: Typically, the Senior Research Fellowship is awarded for two years. This tenure can be extended for one year depending upon the outstanding performance of the fellow and approval from the EMR Division of CSIR HRDG after receiving the recommendation of three member committees including the Head of Department, Guide and an External Member.

ADVERTISEMENT – 2023/1) INVITING APPLICATIONS FOR direct SRF and RA

Only online applications will be accepted.

The Human Resource Development (HRD) Group of COUNCIL OF SCIENTIFIC AND INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH (CSIR), New Delhi, provides opportunities to bright young men and women in the form of direct Senior Research Fellowships (SRFs) and Research Associateships (RAs) for training in methods of research under the expert guidance of faculty members/scientists working in universities, laboratories and institutes of Government Departments and recognised laboratories of industry in various fields of science and technology.

Preference will be given to the research in the new and emerging fields of science and in the areas of importance for development of scientific and technological capability of the country.

CSIR Direct SRF RA

SENIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS

Eligbility Criteria: 

MSc/BE/B. Tech or equivalent degree with at least 55% marks and one publication in Science Citation Indexed (SCI) Journal and should have completed at least two years of post MSc/BE/B. Tech research experience as on the last date of application, as evidenced from fellowship/ associateship or from date of registration for Ph.D.

OR M.Tech/ME or equivalent degree in engineering/technology with at least 60% marks.

BE/B. Tech or equivalent degree with at least 60% marks and two years research experience as on the last date of application. OR

BPharm/BVSc/BSc(Ag) or equivalent degree with at least 55% marks and one publication in SCI Journal and should have completed at least three years research experience as on the last date of application, evidenced from fellowship/associateship or from date of registration for Ph.D. OR MPharm/MVSc/MSc(Ag)/MPhil or equivalent degree with at least 55% marks and one publication in SCI Journal and should have at least one year research experience as on the last date of application, evidenced from fellowship / associateship or from date of registration for Ph.D.

Documents in support of research, teaching experience (not below the undergraduate level) and Ph.D. registration should be attached. Those who have been awarded PhD/MD/MS/MDS degree or have submitted their thesis for the award of PhD/MD/MS/MDS degrees are not eligible for the position of SRF. Those who are eligible for RA will not be considered for SRF

EMPLOYED CANDIDATES:

These fellowships are held on a full-time basis. Therefore, simultaneous employment elsewhere is not permitted. However, those desirous of pursuing higher studies, but employed presently, whether temporary or permanent may apply with an undertaking that if selected, they will resign from the job before taking up the fellowship. The application will be rejected if the undertaking is not enclosed.

STIPEND AND TENURE:

Rs. 35000/- per month during entire tenure of fellowship or date of PhD viva-voce whichever is earlier. In addition, each SRF will receive a contingent grant of a maximum Rs. 20,000/-p.a. SRF will be tenable initially for maximum of two years or depending upon the fellowship tenure already availed. The term is extendable by one year on the basis of assessment of the progress already made as judged by a three-member assessment committee. Those who have held or are holding equivalent fellowships awarded under various schemes of all India grant giving agencies such as DST, DBT, ICMR, UGC, ICAR etc. may apply subject to the condition that the total tenure inclusive of CSIR fellowship shall not exceed three years.

Those who have already availed, or would have availed by 31st October 2023, JRF for 5 years or SRF for 3 years from any source need not apply. The combined tenure of JRF and SRF will not exceed five years. SRF will be terminated from the date of PhD viva voce or completion of tenure whichever is earlier. Those who are already holding equivalent fellowship should specify the reason for applying. The application is likely to be rejected if the reason is not specified.

CSIR Direct SRF RA Online Applications

RESEARCH ASSOCIATESHIPS

Eligbility Criteria

PhD (in science or engineering subject) or MD/MS/MDS (in medical science subject) or ME/MTech/MPharm/MVSc with three years R&D experience as on the last date of application, evidenced from fellowship or associateship or from date of registration of PhD. PhD (science/engineering) thesis submitted is also eligible for RA’ship. Selection in such cases will be subject to the condition that PhD viva-voce done & declared qualified for award of PhD/awarded PhD degree before the expiry of the validity of the award offer.

The candidate applying for Research Associateship must have at least one research publication in standard refereed journal as listed in Journal Citation Reports (JCR). Employed candidates, whether temporary or permanent, and also those who have already availed higher fellowships/associateships like Senior Research Associateships etc. will not be considered for RAship.

The stipend of RA will be one of the following for the entire tenure: Rs. 47,000/- p.m. (Fixed), Rs. 49,000/-p.m. (Fixed), Rs. 54,000/-p.m. (Fixed), as recommended by the selection committee. In addition, each RA will receive a contingent grant of a maximum of Rs. 20,000/-p.a.

RA will be tenable initially for one year. It may be extended further annually at the discretion of CSIR based on three members assessment committee report. The total tenure of RA is fixed for 3 years. Those who have availed or are holding equivalent Associateships under various schemes of All-India grant giving agencies such as DST, DBT, ICMR, UGC, ICAR etc. may apply subject to the condition that the total tenure of RA including that of CSIR shall not exceed three years.

Those who have already availed equivalent grant of any kind for three years need not apply.

OTHER CONDITIONS/INFORMATION:

Senior Research Fellow (SRF) : Maximum 32 years as on the last date of application. Research Associate (RA) : Maximum 35 years as on the last date of application. Upper age limit is relaxable by five years for SC/ST/Physically handicapped and women candidates and three years in case of OBC (non-creamy layer) applicants.

SELECTION PROCEDURE FOR CSIR Direct SR RA:

Selection will be made through interview of candidates short-listed on the basis of their academic records, experience and assessment of research work already carried out and published by the candidates, by discipline-wise high level expert committees. The SC/ST candidates called for interview will be paid single second-class rail/bus fare to and fro by the shortest route from the station mentioned in the address for correspondence given in the online application from (within India) to place of interview on production of documentary proof as per rule in force. Merely fulfilling of the essential qualifications will not entitle a candidate for being called for interview. CSIR reserves the right to call or not to call a candidate for interview.

CANDIDATES APPLYING UNDER ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES (ENVIRON/ 32):

Only those candidates desirous of working on one of the following broad topics may apply under the Code ENVIRON / 32:

• Principles and scope of Environmental Sciences, Ecosystems, Pathways in Ecosystems, Physico-chemical and biological factors in environment, etc.

• Structure and composition of atmosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere and biosphere, mass and energy transfer across various interfaces. Scale of meteorology, pressure, temperature, precipitation, humidity, radiation and wind and atmospheric stability etc.

• Environmental chemistry, chemical composition of air, water chemistry, soil chemistry, toxic chemicals in environment, air pollution, climate change, etc.

• Biodiversity and its conservation; microflora of atmosphere; environmental biotechnology, endangered and threatened species; environmental genomics; environmental health, environmental virology, environmental impact and risk assessment, environmental materials, etc.

• Environmental geosciences- earth systems and biosphere; earth’s processes and geological hazards, mineral resources and environment, water resources and environment, land use planning, environmental geochemistry, etc.

• Solar radiation and its spectral characteristics, fossil fuels; physic-chemical characteristics and energy content of coal, petroleum and natural gas; principles of generation of hydroelectric power, geothermal energy, bioenergy- energy from biomass and biogas, etc.

• Solid and Hazardous waste management, waste water technology and management, etc. Candidates applying under this code should have essential qualification as applicable to other codes.

E. CANDIDATES APPLYING UNDER SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY STUDIES (STS / 71):

Only those candidates desirous of working on one of the following broad topics may apply under the Code STS/71:

• R & D Management (Planning, Priorities, Evaluation, Social and Economic Impact, etc.)

• Intellectual Property laws, Policies, Management and evaluation, etc

• Technology forecasting, Assessment and Management;

• Policies, Programmes, and approaches for innovation policies, promotion instruments and management;

• S & T Policies, Programmes and interface with global economic agenda.

• S & T interface with Society, Polity and Production sectors.

• Studies on Technological Change in the Production Sectors.

• Studies on mobility of S & T professionals: Demands, Trends, Impact, etc.

• Studies on International competitiveness of Indian S & T.

• Societal impact in the open economy era.

Subject code should be carefully selected (given in Appendix I) and it should be directly related to past education & experience and future area of study. Identification of irrelevant code or code not matching with the proposed topic of research may lead to rejection of the application. Candidates applying under this code should have essential qualification as applicable to other codes with an exception that degree at the master level can also be in management, social sciences, commerce, etc.

INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CANDIDATES

The candidates should carefully read these instructions before submitting their applications:

i. A candidate can apply in only one subject code. Code number of the subject should be carefully selected (given in Appendix I) and indicated against the appropriate column. It should be directly related to past education and experience and future area of study. Identification of irrelevant code or code not matching with the proposed topic of research may lead to rejection of the application. No change of code would be permitted after submission of online application. Details from the time of obtaining the qualifying degree till the last date of application should be mentioned clearly in column 19 of application form. Unaccounted period, if any, may lead to rejection.

ii. All the necessary documents i.e. office orders in support of the research experience mentioned in column 19 of application form and proof of PhD registration should be attached, otherwise application will be rejected. No testimonial will be accepted as proof of research experience.

iii. Candidates should be prepared to produce original certificate, PhD registration, research experience (office orders), reprints & letter(s) of acceptance about papers under publication, NET, GATE certificate at the time of interview and later when required.

iv. Applications will be processed on the basis of information provided in the online application. (If the information given in the application form does not match with the originals at the time of verification of documents, the candidate may not be allowed to appear for interview).

v. Those who have already applied three times and not called or not selected need not to apply.

vi. Date of interview will not be changed on request from candidates.

vii. Misrepresentation or hiding of facts shall lead to disqualification.

viii. Every effort is made by CSIR to have committees with wide-ranging expertise, however, complaints of rejection on this account will not be entertained by CSIR.

ix. Decision of CSIR on all matters including calling for interview, selection, recommendation and placement etc. shall be final. No correspondence in the matter will be entertained.

x. Research supervisor should not be the blood relative.

xi. Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification. No interim enquiries will be attended too.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS

1) Candidates need to apply online only.

5) Only one application per candidate will be accepted by the system.

6) Give your correct/working email id, as all further correspondence will be through email, and CSIR – HRDG will not be responsible for any communication not received due to an incorrect email id.

7) To avoid last minute rush, candidates are advised to apply early and well in time. CSIR will not be responsible for network or any other such type of problems. No extension in closing date will be given.

8) Once the application form is filled up, please save/submit it within 40 minutes, otherwise, your session will be expired and you need to re-login.

9) Candidates should keep ready the below documents as per given specifications. (a) Photo (b) Signature (c) Age proof (DOB Certificate) (d) Combined document: Qualifying degree + grade to % conversion certificate, if any + PhD registration / submission/ award proof (e) Caste certificate, if applicable then it is mandatory (f) PwD certificate, if applicable then it is mandatory (g) Experience certificate (which includes fellowship/associateship OMs) and Employed candidates have to submit duly signed undertaking for leaving the job if get selected for the fellowship/associateship (h) Combined document: Duly signed and stamped declaration and undertaking form by the candidate, supervisor, and Head of the institution (The format is available at https://srfra.csirhrdg.res.in/online/download/undertaking_SRF_RA.pdf) + testimonials + Research Proposal (i) Combined document: First page of maximum 3 best research Papers in a single pdf, if applicable. Photo: Format – JPEG/JPG, dimension – 130×160 to 260×320, file size less than 150KB; Signature: Format – JPEG/JPG, dimension – 90X25 to 225×100, file size less than 150KB. Documents: The documents should have a .pdf extension only, file size less than 400KB. Valid Filename: Should have only one extension, only Alpha-Numeric characters allowed with a hyphen (-) and underscore (_), space not allowed, the File extension should be in small letters. (Ex. msc degree (❌), mscdegree (✓), msc_degree (✓), msc-degree (✓)).

INVITING APPLICATIONS FOR direct SRF and RA

The Human Resource Development (HRD) Group of COUNCIL OF SCIENTIFIC AND INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH (CSIR), New Delhi, provides opportunities to bright young Women and Men in the form of Direct Senior Research Fellowships (SRFs) and Research Associateships (RAs) for training in Methods of research under the expert guidance of faculty members/scientists working in universities, Laboratories and institutes of Government Departments and recognized laboratories of industry in Various fields of science and technology.

A. SENIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS :

MSc/BE/B. Tech or equivalent degree with at least 55% marks and one publication in Science Citation Indexed (SCI) Journal and should have finished at least two years of post-MSc/BE/B. Tech research Expertise according to the last date of application, as evidenced from fellowship/ associateship or from the date Of registration for PhD

M.Tech/ME or equivalent degree in engineering/technology with at least 60% marks.

BE/B. Tech or equivalent degree with at least 60% marks and 2 years research experience as on The last date of application.

MBBS/BDS or equivalent with at least 60% marks and one year internship.

BPharm/BVSc/BSc(Ag) or equivalent degree with at least 55% marks and a single publication in SCI Journal and must have finished at least three years’ research experience according to the final date of Application, evidenced from fellowship/associateship or from date of registration for PhD

MPharm/MVSc/MSc(Ag) or equivalent degree with at least 55% marks and a single publication in SCI Journal and should possess a Minumum of One-year research experience according to the last date of application, Evidenced from fellowship/associateship or from date of registration for PhD.

Documents in support of research, teaching (not below the undergraduate level) expertise And PhD registration ought to be attached.

People who have been awarded PhD/MD/MS/MDS degree or have submitted their thesis for the award Of PhD/MD/MS/MDS degrees aren’t eligible for the position of SRF. Those That Are eligible for RA Won’t be considered for SRF.

EMPLOYED CANDIDATES :

These fellowships are held on a full-time basis. So simultaneous employment elsewhere Is not allowed. But, those desirous of pursuing higher studies, but employed presently, Whether temporary or permanent may apply with an undertaking that if chosen, they will Resign from the job prior to taking up the fellowship. The application will be rejected if the Undertaking isn’t enclosed.

STIPEND AND TENURE :

Rs. 35000/- a month throughout the entire tenure of fellowship or date of PhD viva-voce whichever is sooner. In Addition, each SRF is going to be given a contingent grant of a max Rs. 20,000/-p.a.. The grant will be Provided to the University/Institution where the SRF will be affiliated. SRFs will be given Rs. 3000/- (lump sum) additional on submission of Ph.D thesis in e-form. SRF will be tenable initially for a period of 2 years. The term is extendable by one year on the basis Of assessment of the progress already made as judged by a three-member assessment committee. People who have held or are holding equal fellowships awarded under different schemes of India grant-giving agencies like DST, DBT, ICMR, UGC, ICAR etc. can apply subject to the Condition that the whole tenure inclusive of CSIR fellowship won’t exceed three years. Those Who’ve already availed or would have availed by 31st March 2020, JRF for five years or SRF for 3 years from any source shouldn’t apply. The combined tenure of JRF, if any, also SRF won’t Exceed five years. SRF will be terminated from the date of PhD viva voce or conclusion of tenure Whichever is sooner. People That Are currently holding equal fellowship should define the reason for applying. The application is very likely to be reversed if the reason isn’t specified.

B. RESEARCH ASSOCIATESHIPS:

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PhD (in a science or engineering subject) or MD/MS/MDS (in medical science subject) or ME/MTech/MPharm/MVSc with three years R&D expertise as on the final date of Application, evidenced from fellowship or associateship or from date of registration of PhD.
  • PhD (science/engineering) thesis submitted is also eligible for RA’ship. Selection in such Cases will be subject to the condition which PhD viva-voce has done & declared qualified for Award of PhD/awarded PhD degree prior to the expiry of the validity of this award offer.
  • The candidate applying for Research Associateship should have a Minumum of One research Publication in a standard refereed journal as listed in Journal Citation Reports (JCR).

Employed candidates, whether temporary or permanent and those who’ve already Availed higher fellowships such as Senior Research Associateships etc. won’t be considered for RAship.

The stipend of RA will be one of the following for the entire tenure :

Rs. 47,000/- p.m. (Fixed), Rs. 49,000/-p.m. (Fixed), Rs. 54,000/-p.m. (Fixed), as recommended by the selection committee.

Additionally, each RA will Be Given a contingent grant of a maximum of Rs. 20,000/-p.a. that will be Provided to the concerned University/Institution.

RA will be tenable initially for a year. It may be extended farther yearly at the discretion of CSIR Based on three members assessment committee report. The entire tenure of RA is fixed for 3 years. Those with availed or are holding equal Associateships under various schemes of All-India Grant-giving agencies such as DST, DBT, ICMR, UGC, ICAR etc. can apply subject to this condition The entire tenure of RA such as that of CSIR will not exceed three years. People people who have already availed equal grant of any sort for 3 years need not apply.

C. OTHER CONDITIONS/INFORMATION

AGE LIMIT :

  • Senior Research Fellow (SRF): Maximum 32 years as on the last date of application.
  • Research Associate (RA): Maximum 35 years according to the last date of application.

Upper age limit is relaxable by five years for SC/ST/Physically handicapped and women candidates And three years in the event of OBC (non-creamy layer) applicants.

SELECTION PROCEDURE FOR SRF/RA : Selection will be made via interview of applicants short-listed on the basis of the academic Records, experience and assessment of research work carried out and published by the Applicants, by discipline-wise high-level expert committees. The SC/ST candidates called for interview Will be compensated single second class rail/bus fares to and fro by the shortest route from the station mentioned In the address for correspondence given in the online application from (within India) to place of Interview on the production of documentary proof according to rule in force. Merely satisfying the essential Qualifications won’t entitle a candidate to be called for interview. CSIR reserves the right to call or not to call a candidate for the interview.

D. FELLOWSHIP IN ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES, ENVIRON / 32 :

Only those candidates desirous of working on a few of these broad topics may apply Under the Code ENVIRON / 32 :

  • Principles and extent of Environmental Sciences, Ecosystems, Pathways in Ecosystems, Physico-chemical and biological factors in the environment, etc.
  • Structure and composition of the atmosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere and biosphere, mass and Energy transfer across various interfaces. Scale of meteorology, temperature, pressure, precipitation, humidity, radiation and wind and atmospheric stability etc..
  • Environmental chemistry, chemical composition of air, water chemistry, soil chemistry, toxic Chemicals in the environment, air pollution, climate change, etc..
  • Biodiversity and its conservation; microflora of atmosphere; environmental biotechnology, Endangered and threatened species; environmental genomics; environmental health, Environmental virology, environmental impact and risk assessment, environmental materials, etc..
  • Environmental geosciences- earth systems and biosphere; earth processes and geological hazards, mineral resources and environment, water resources and environment, land use Planning, environmental geochemistry, etc.
  • Solar radiation and its spectral characteristics, fossil fuels; physic-chemical characteristics and Energy content of coal, petroleum and natural gas; principles of generation of hydroelectric Power, geothermal energy, bioenergy- energy from biomass and biogas, etc.
  • Solid and Hazardous waste management, waste water technology and management, etc.

Candidates applying under this code must have essential qualification as applicable to additional codes.

E. CANDIDATES APPLYING UNDER THE CODE STS / 71 :

Only those candidates desirous of working on one of these broad topics may apply Under the Code STS 71 :

  • R & D Management (Planning, Priorities, Evaluation, Social and Economic Impact, etc.)
  • Intellectual Property laws, Policies, Management and evaluation, etc
  • Technology forecasting, Assessment and Management;
  • Policies, Programmes, and approaches for innovation policies, promotion instruments and management;
  • S & T Policies, Programmes and interface with global economic agenda.
  • S & T interface with Society, Polity and Production sectors.
  • Studies on Technological Change in the Production Sectors.
  • Studies on the mobility of S & T professionals: Demands, Trends, Impact, etc..
  • Studies on International competitiveness of Indian S & T.
  • Societal impact in the open economy era.

Subject code must be carefully chosen (given in Appendix I ) and it Ought to Be directly associated with past Education & experience and future area of study. Identification of irrelevant code or code not matching Together with the proposed topic of research can result in rejection of this application.

Candidates applying under this code must have qualifications as related to additional codes With an exception which degree at the master level can also be in management, social sciences, Commerce, etc..

F. FELLOWSHIP IN TRANS-DISCIPLINARY AREA TDR / 81 :

The Aim of the fellowship in a trans-disciplinary area would be to promote research in emerging and new Areas where boundaries between disciplines are transcended and perspectives and knowledge from Different areas are integrated.

Trans-disciplinary research brings together two or more disciplines to Create new knowledge Through collaborations beyond the constraints of one’s own discipline.

Candidates applying under this code must have qualifications as applicable to additional codes.

Application received under this code rather than needing any Trans-disciplinary part from the proposed Topic of research can result in rejection of this application.

G. INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CANDIDATES

The candidates should carefully read the following instructions before submitting their applications:

i. A candidate can apply in only one subject code . Code number of this subject Ought to Be Carefully chosen (given in Appendix I ) and indicated against the appropriate column. It Should be directly associated with past education and experience and future area of study. Identification of irrelevant code or code not matching with the proposed topic of Research can result in rejection of this application. No change of code will be permitted.

ii. Details from the time of obtaining the qualifying degree till the final date of application Ought to Be Unaccounted period, if any, can result in rejection.

iii. All the necessary files i.e. office orders in support of this research experience mentioned in Column 18 of the application form and proof of PhD registration ought to be attached, otherwise, Application will be rejected. No testimonial will be accepted as proof of research expertise.

iv. Candidates must be prepared to produce the original certification, PhD registration, research Expertise (office orders), reprints & letter(s) of acceptance about papers under publication, NET, GATE certification at the time of interview and later when required.

V. Applications will be processed on the basis of information provided in the online application. (If the information given in the application form Doesn’t match with the originals At the time of verification of documents, the candidate might not be permitted to appear for interview). Applications/ documents received after the final date won’t be entertained.

vi. People people who have already applied three times and not called or chosen need not apply.

vii. Date of the interview won’t be changed on request from candidates.

viii. Misrepresentation or hiding of facts will cause disqualification.

ix. Every attempt is made by CSIR to have committees with extensive experience, so, Complaints of rejection on this account won’t be entertained by CSIR following the interviews.

X. The decision of CSIR on all matters such as calling for interview, selection, recommendation and Placement etc. will be final. No correspondence from the matter will be entertained.

xi. Research supervisor shouldn’t be the blood relative.

xii. Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification. No interim enquiries will be attended to.

xiii. The candidates are advised in their interest to apply early enough to guarantee timely receipt Of the application by the CSIR on or prior to the final date.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTION

Candidates after successfully submitting application online Need to take print out of the Application Form and glue his/her recent photograph in the space provided and send (as the Topmost page) along with the following documents to Scientist-In-Charge, EMR-I, Human Resource Development Group, CSIR Complex, Library Avenue, Pusa, New Delhi 110 012, In order to reach latest by August 2nd 2019 :

(i) Detail description of proposed research topics giving an outline of the problem (about 1000 words) to be addressed, its importance, objective(s), technical programme and year-wise strategy of work. (ii) Self-attested copies of school leaving certification, degrees, mark sheets, Proof of PhD Registration, Proof of PhD Submission/PhD Viva-Voce/PhD degree, NET, GATE, etc.. Attested copies of documents in support of research expertise. Only office orders (OMs) will be accepted as proof of experience . Testimonials Won’t be accepted for This purpose. (iii) Self-attested copies of research papers published, accepted for publication. (iv) Testimonial from Guide/ Supervisor. (v) Undertaking to resign in the event of candidates that are employed in the event of award of Senior Research fellowship/Research Associateship (SRF/RA). (vi) Attestations by the proposed Guide/Supervisor and also the Head of the Institute at the Space given in the hard copy of the Application Form

There’s no application fee. The subject code where applied must be clearly and boldly written on the envelope. Considering that the application is to be forwarded through proper Channel, it is going to be advisable to apply well in time.

Applications received after the final date or incomplete applications will be rejected. No interim correspondence will be entertained. The conclusion of CSIR on all aspects of the selection process will be final.
