CSIR SRF 2022: Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) invites applications for the Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) every year in the month of July. Aspirants can apply for the CSIR Senior Research Fellowship online by visiting the official website, i.e. csirhrdg.res.in. Apart from filling out the online application form, candidates should forward a hard copy of the same to CSIR through the supervisor and HOD.
Candidates completing at least four years of graduation degree with relevant post-graduation research experience are eligible to apply for the CSIR Senior Research Fellowship. CSIR Senior Research Fellowship (CSIR-SRF) – Eligibility Criteria
The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research prescribes the eligibility criteria for CSIR SRF. Aspirants must satisfy the eligibility criteria before proceeding to submit the application form. CSIR will reject the candidature of all ineligible applicants. The space below mentions the eligibility criteria for CSIR Senior Research Fellowship.
Candidates must satisfy any of the following conditions.
– MSc/B.Tech./B.E. or equivalent degree with a minimum of 55% and a publication in SCI Journal. Additionally, candidates must have at least two years of post-degree research experience.
– M.E./ M.Tech or an equivalent degree in Technology/ Engineering obtaining a minimum of 60% marks
– B.Tech./ B.E. or equivalent degree with a minimum of 60% marks along with two years of research experience as of the last date of application form submission
– M.B.B.S./B.D.S. or an equivalent degree with a minimum of 60% marks and a one-year internship
– B.Pharm/B.Sc. (Ag)/ B.VSc or an equivalent degree obtaining 55% marks and a publication in an SCI Journal. Additionally, candidates must complete a minimum of three years of research experience.
– M.VSc/ M.Pharma/MSc. (Ag) or equivalent degree with a minimum of 55% marks and one publication in SCI Journal and should have at least one year of research experience.
Apart from the above mentioned educational qualification, candidates must meet the following age criteria.

Candidates need to apply online for the CSIR Senior Research Fellowship. The application process for CSIR SRF is available for a stipulated schedule. The steps mentioned below will help in filling out the application form for the CSIR Senior Research Fellowship.
1st Step – Visit the official website of CSIR-HRDG, that is, csirhrdg.res.in
2nd Step – Browse the official website to find the notification to apply online for CSIR SRF
3rd Step – Enter all the details, including personal information, academic information, professional information, etc.
4th Step – Upload all the documents to support the claims in the application form
5th Step – Review all the details before and hit the ‘Submit’ button
6th Step – Print the confirmation page and send the same along with the copies of the supporting documents through the supervisor and HOD of the CSIR lab to the following address.

CSIR Senior Research Fellowship (CSIR-SRF) – Selection Criteria
Best applications will be considered for the further rounds of the selection process. CSIR will shortlist the candidates for the interview. During the interview process, a discipline-wise high-level expert committee at CSIR assesses academic record and the project work. Fulfilling the eligibility criteria does not guarantee to award the fellowship. The candidates are only called for the interview if the selection committee finds them suitable for the fellowship.
Candidates are called for the interview after shortlisting based on their qualifications and the number of fellowships available for a particular discipline. Selected candidates will get an offer letter/ award letter. The validity of the offer letter is six months; candidates need to accept the offer within the offer period.
CSIR Senior Research Fellowship (CSIR-SRF) – Benefits
The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research offers senior research fellowship benefits including a monthly stipend as well as grants. Candidates enrolling in the Senior Research Fellowship of CSIR get the following benefits/ awards.
– Candidates will get Rs. 35,000 per month for the entire tenure of the fellowship
– Rs. 20,000 as contingency grant per fellow*
– Senior Research Fellows will get the medical facility as per State/ Central Government medical norms
– Candidates will get a lump sum amount of Rs. 3,000 additional to the above award when the candidate submits a PhD thesis
*Note: For a fellowship of less than one year, the contingency grant will be provided on a pro-rata basis
CSIR Senior Research Fellowship (CSIR-SRF) – Terms and Conditions
Candidates need to abide by the following terms and conditions to get the CSIR Senior Research Fellowship (CSIR-SRF).
– Aspirants of CSIR – SRF can apply under one subject code only.
– Candidates whose application specifies an irrelevant code to the proposed topic of research may lead to rejection the candidates.
– Application form must be filled out online; also, a hard copy must be sent to the requisite address.
– Candidates must produce original documents along with the application form.
– The application process for CSIR SRF is of cost.
– Preference will be given to a subject/topic of research pertinent to the research programs of CSIR laboratories and nationally important Science and Technology areas.
– CSIR its discretion has the authority to call or reject a candidate for the personal interaction round.
– The award letter/ offer letter will be valid for a period o six months only, after the specified period the selection of the candidate for the Senior Research Fellowship stands cancelled.
– The Institute/ University will have to submit the consolidated Utilization Certificate and Statement of Expenditure at the end of the financial year without a fail.
– In case any of the fellows decide to appear for a competitive examination, he/she must seek permission from the guide and inform CSIR about the same.
– During the Fellowship tenure, the fellow shall only correspond with CSIR through the Guide after the approval of the Head of the Institution.
– Male fellows under the CSIR SRF scheme having less than two surviving children shall be entitled to 15 days of paternity leave during the confinement of their wife.
– Female fellows having less than two surviving children shall be entitled to maternity leave with a stipend plus HRA for a period not exceeding 180 days.
– Senior Research Fellows are expected to settle their claims within one year of leaving the Fellowship. No claims after that will be entertained.
– Senior research fellows are exempted from payment of income tax under 10 (16) of the Income Tax Act.
– CSIR has the right to amend any of the conditions mentioned at any time without any intimation.

SC/ST/PH category and female candidates have a relaxation of five years (37 years). In contrast, OBC – Non-Creamy Layer category candidates are entitled to a relaxation of three years in the upper age limit (35 Years).
